Been getting lost in this album the last few days. First time I heard it, I hated it. I longed for the Radiohead that brought us The Bends & OK Computer. But, over time, I've learnt to appreciate Kid A more and listening to it is pretty unique experience. No longer do I feel that they lost themselves trying to reinvent the wheel, trying to fix something that wasn't broken. Been reading about the album and it seems some people have a pretty harsh opinion about it (Mark Beaumont is mentioned quite a bit for his original review - www.followmearound.com/presscuttings.php?year=2000&cutting=85) which I'd have agreed with about 6 years ago but reading it now, it's pretty harsh. Where does everyone stand with Kid A? Love it? Hate it?

It's pretty much regarded as a classic record now although at the time it had decidedly mixed reviews.

Aye, well, Beaumomt is a cunt 'cos he still thinks it's shit.
Had a totally gay moment listening to Motion Picture Soundtrack. I'm in the best of moods this morning but that song is so fucking beautiful I felt like I could've cried.

With a shuffle and a shrug, "Kid A" catches up with itself at the pearly gates of "Motion Picture Soundtrack", trips over a massive f***-off harp and suddenly realises what a boring arse it's been all along. did get melody maker back then every week. least he admits national anthem is a choon. remember getting the q issue with thom's weirded out eyes on it to.

it's a wonderful album and signals the point where i stopped being interested in radiohead (post-Kid A) That sums my view up perfectly. I love Kid A, but am thoroughly bored with everything that came after it (with the exception of 3-4 songs off amnesiac and in rainbows.)

I'll always bear a grudge against kid a for starting that process.

i remember the first time i heard Kid A. Bought it during lunch, rushed home from school, listened to it lying on the sofa, in absolute bliss. So do I, oddly. I had gone to see a movie (Traffic, I think) and took the bus home, and I remember being stood at a big bus stop by myself in the middle of a field around midnight in a snowstorm, and put it on my discman (remember those?) and just let it sweep over me. A moment I'll never forget.

in rainbows is an amazing album from start to end, so is kid a Yeah In Rainbows is utterly fantastic, can't understand why anyone who broadly speaking likes Radiohead wouldn't like it. King of Limbs does count as a disappointment, half of it is really good though and it sounds considerably better live.

With how easy it is to access music these days, I miss this kind of thing. I didn't get into the whole downloading music from torrents thing until about '05 and have fond memories of doing something similar to you with Kasabian's debut, The Streets' second album and the much-anticipated second album from The Libertines.

despite the fact that they've done a fair bit of good music the world would be better off had radiohead never existed.
and anyone who likes in rainbows should kill themselves.
