This might seem a little Dan-ish, but I was listening to Howl yesterday and during Promise I thought it could easily be a lost McCartney ballad. Then a pair more came to mind and from that point there was no turning back on this useless fake Howl cover record.
1 Shuffle Your Feet - Black Lips 2 Howl - Arcade Fire 3 Devil's Waitin - Wilco 4 Ain't No Easy Way - Johnny Cash 5 Still Suspicion Holds You Tight - John Lennon 6 Fault Line - PJ Harvey 7 Promise - Paul McCartney 8 Weight Of The World - early Coldplay 9 Restless Sinner - Richard Hawley 10 Gospel Song - Spiritualized 11 Complicated Situation - Bob Dylan 12 Symapthetic Noose - Oasis, electric version 13 The Line - The Horrors Hidden: Open Invitation - Fleet Foxes
I usually find those kind of compilations extremely shit and dull cos the songs don't fit the artist or they take the safe way. But besides Johnny Cash and Lennon being dead, I certainly believe those artists would do a good work with those tracks.

Works the other way round as well (sorry if that's what you intended as well) but to see where they get their inspiration from. Definitely hearing spirtualized and lennon and dylan.. edit: not saying that the others don't, obviously. also, does this mean that you have gotten a vinyl player, Barny?

Not yet, unfortunately. Have to sort it out before 2017. And yeah, it can work in both ways. Specially cos I supose it doesn't really make any sense out of my mind

Strange, I played 'howl' at a party once and someone came in from another room to ask me if this was the new dylan album.

Like the premise of the thread and everything, but Johnny Cash doing Ain't No Easy Way? I just don't see it.
