It's been discussed on different incarnations of The Soapy many, many times before, I'm sure. I've not seen this discussion for a while but as I sit hear, approaching the final at work and listening to Abbey Road, I thought it might be a good idea to bring it up again.
So, Abbey Road. I'd always liked it, but never loved it. That's changed. It's such a fantastic record. Listening the the opening 4 tracks of the albums has given me a warm fuzzy feeling on this glum Friday.
For me, there isn't a single duff moment. Even the playful Maxwell's Silver Hammer & Octupusses Garden sound fantastic wedged between Come Together, Something, Oh Darling & I Want You (She's So Heavy).
Undoubtebly, the best track is actually the latter mentioned I Want You (She's So Heavy). It's dark and beautiful and rocking and funky, all in equal measure.
Actually, scratch what I said about there not being a duff moment, I could probably do without Sun King, but the rest is majestic, a fine piece of work; timeless and essential in every possible way.
It's been a while since an album has clicked for me like this, it's such an amazing feeling when it happens.

It's always a toss up between Revolver & Rubber Soul depending on what mood I'm in though it tends to be revolver with the White Album not far behind in 3rd place.

The top 5 for me are Abbey Road, The Beatles, Rubber Soul, Revolver and Sgt Peppers. The order changes all the time though, and there isn't a single album of theirs which doesn't have a few redeeming features.

yesterday surely is just a bit hated due to the amount of times its been covered by shit cunts. as a stand alone song and hearing it for the first time back in the 60s i reckon it would have been pretty special.

Disappointed no one has quoted Partridge yet
Anyway, it's always between Rubber Soul, Revolver, Abbey Road and the White Album. Sgt Peppers is one of the most over rated album in music IMO. It's certainly near the bottom of the Beatles pile anyway

Bestest band ever, my top3 today would be 1. Abbey Road 2. Let It Be 3. The White Album
There was a thread about this not so long ago though, I remember Shenandoah bigging up Magical Mystery Tour.
