Has anyone tried the new Flaiming Lips yet? Gave it my second listen today and really enjoyed it. Will probably grow with repeated listens. There's a lot of interesting stuff going on.

Had a couple of listens & found it incredibly boring. Shame as I loved embryonic.

I thought that on my first listen but was looking at shit on the internet when doing so; think I was distracted.
Listened to it again on my way to work today and it sucked me right in.

Yeah it is growing on me a lot. I still think some of those songs would of benefited from a much larger sound but I'm digging.

Seconded; it's grown on me a lot these last few days.
Stand outs for me are the title track, K Hole, Loving Animals and the bizarrely titled Monsters of Sunderland.

I tend to agree with this quote taken from Pitchfork's review of Black Angels' album.
Also, they always came as too self-important, like a kind of self-proclaimed modern day preachers, which is brilliantly summed up here:

No, chances are somebody has re-encoded the 128 as 320 which will make no difference. New album releases turtle a bunch of shit usually. The minute it leaks properly it'll be up on exy.
Shame exy doesn't do hip=hop stuff ever.

No, chances are somebody has re-encoded the 128 as 320 which will make no difference. That would actually make it worse.

Digging the new Deerhunter song, I always stood at a distance from them for no reason, will change that soon.

Not had a chance to hear it yet. Really hopeful for it & praying it's good as I've had a long string of underwhelming/disappointing new records recently & need something to get me excited again.

Laura Mvula- Sing to the Moon is that record Karl. Impossible to pigeonhole, but jazz/soul/pop is the general idea. Utterly original but with all sorts of nods to the greats. Brilliant songwriting, orchestration and performance....and tunes galore. I'd never heard of her until Later with Jools last night.
