I've only heard Sing To The Moon, not my thing, found it completely dull.
First listen of YYY's I really liked it. Had many highlights but also a few I wasn't sure about that just didn't seem to go anywhere but hopefully they'll grow. British Sea Power's new one has grown on me in a big way.

You've made me angry now, you little scamp. This is so far from the middle of the road it's trying to crawl out of the gutter banging it's head against the kerb. It's main redeeming feature is it's originality- just b'cos it has a big hook doesn't mean it's MOR. I fear you have music fatigue that's clouding your judgement.

I'm sorry but that kind of music is ten a penny, it is no surprise that you first saw it on Jools Holland, when did anybody ever hear about an artist that was any good first on jools holland? She's a nicely packaged 'real' artist that has been signed to appeal to the same people that bought the adele, keane & Dido records. That song is just completely empty.

I wrote a review of the BSP album basically saying it was better than Valhalla Dancehall but that it was still a bit shit. The editor never used it. Clearly every other fucker in the country saying 'it's brilliant' has made him realise 'that cunt doesn't have a clue'

"I'm sorry but that kind of music is ten a penny, it is no surprise that you first saw it on Jools Holland, when did anybody ever hear about an artist that was any good first on jools holland " The white stripes? It's where most people heard about them anyway I appreciate that to someone who's only been listening to black music for a couple of years it's not easy to separate the wheat from the chaff; but this girl is a cut above and comparing her to dido is not only lazy, but so far wide of the mark as to be non-sensical. ;-) It's impossible to compare her to anyone else as she doesn't sound like anyone else; but if you had to then her self proclaimed influences such as erykah badu, jill Scott and the like are a start. But she really doesn't sound like either. edited: just read that back- a little harsh. I must remember that posting on my phone, while sat on the throne, hungover and negotiating a difficult turd at 7am is not a good idea. Sorry

The term "black music" certainty echoed around the forum. Titchjuicy assumingly dumbing down to Karl's racist low brow level. Really rubbing salt into the 'music fatigue' knife wound.
This is Neo vs Agent Smith type stuff. If Karl cusses Titchjuicy's beloved Janelle Monae then none of us are safe.

I've no problem if this is your thing, I know you are also a big fan of coffee table favourite Rumer too, good for you. Unfortunately listening to that is my idea of hell & well done Jools Holland for bringing the white stripes to our attention (albeit two two albums late).... 12 years ago. 'I've been listening to black music longer than you, you don't understand'... I hear the lighthouse family are touring later this year

I hear the lighthouse family are touring later this year HAHA! ;D there was a track or two of Rumer's that were decent- written by Burt Bacharach....but then he's probably too MOR for you Dusty Springfield too i expect. however; Laura Mvula is nothing like either of those artists I know it's naff to quote reviews in music threads, but I wish I could write as well as this about music...and if it means more people will give her record a spin, than based on my fumbling recommendation, then all the better. thequietus.com/articles/11654-laura-mvula-sing-to-the-moon-review
