It's fucking amazing. 'Nothing Is' is POWERFUL. 'Only Tomorrow' is classic-sounding MBV. The only thing I don't like is 'If This and Yes'

Only listened twice through thus far. Not sure at all what I make of it. I guess i'm disappointed but it was destined to disappoint wasn't it?

How do people rate the first album? I don't think I really ever gave it a proper listen.

Isn't Anything is great, even more dreamy and less noisy than Loveless.
They're only playing New You live at their current set of gigs which is a bit annoying, was really looking forward to how stuff like Wonder 2 sounded live.

I'm yo-yo'ing between absolutely hating the new album and thinking i've mis-understood it and need more time to allow it to grow upon me.

Thoughts on the album now I've had about 10 listens, I feel like I've digested it fully now.
She Found Now - A decent track but as the first song we've heard from MBV for years it is a bit disappointing. To me it sounds just like a Loveless reject. Only Tomorrow - Fucking amazing, up there with anything they've ever done. That harmonica (is it a harmonica or something manipulated to sound like one?) that comes in just gets me every single time. Who Sees You - Classic MBV Is This & Yes - Originally I had this down as a filler but the more I've listened the more it works as a nice atmospheric album track. Couldn't imagine listening to out outside the context of this LP but it definitely has a deserving place on the record. If I Am - Real dreamy, easy to get lost whilst listening, the sort of song that only mbv can do. New You - the most poppy moment on the record. I think musically it could of done with having something more going on, it just feels to plod a little at times, that said I still love it, probably my second fav behind Only Tomorrow on the record. In Another Way - I'd of had this as the opener over She Found Now. It is the kind of noisy yet beautiful racket that they do so well. Nothing Is - I really don't like this track at all. It feels like an idea that was never developed & doesn't go anywhere apart from speeding up. A complete filler which, given how many years Kevin has had to come up with new songs is a sin. Wonder 2 - The aircraft sound/phasing (whatever it is) that runs through the last track just frustrates me. I know MBV use shit like this often on tracks but usually they provide layers to the song which add more depth but here it just takes me completely out of the song. I'd love to hear a version with it completely removed tbh. Thankfully the extra layers that come in further into the track distract me from it but it pisses me off.
Overall good shit despite my problems with a few of the tunes. I can't moan too much considering I didn't believe it'd ever be released. 8/10

I'm not as prolific a music listener as the postman but i've hit the 4 listens point now which I generally feel is a good benchmark for being able to judge an album.
She Found Now - Love this song, far from being a loveless reject I think it'd fit nicely onto it. Amazing. Only Tomorrow - Another cracking song Who Sees You - This one feels a bit like MBV by numbers, a bit of a let down. Is This & Yes - I don't begrudge Kevin from putting an interlude in here as an interlude song is needed at this point in the album, but this one is a bit shit. Bellinda's vocals save it from being a total disaster though. If I Am - Absolutely love this one, the oooh ooh ooooooh vocals in the outro are amazing, my favourite on the album. New You Really like this one too, nice to hear MBV doing something a bit different to the usual style. In Another Way Very very average. Nothing Is Horrible song, can't believe it made the cut. What was he thinking? Wonder 2 Still not sure about this one, it's got an interesting sound but i'm not sure if I like it that much, it's just not that listenable.
Overall good shit despite my problems with a few of the tunes. I can't moan too much considering I didn't believe it'd ever be released. 7/10

Totally agreed about "Nothing Is", I hoped it would be one of those songs that would reveal more and more with each listen, but there really is nothing else too it but one repetitive beat. I would give the album a 7 too.

I like Nothing Is as a preparation for Wonder 2
