There's a bit where I keep expectIng the chorus of "you can talk to me" by the seahorses to come in! Good tune.

Without the production none of the songs are to jump of happiness, but Liam sounds good.

I think longjohn is simply indicating that these bits are more favorable than the alternative: nothing.

I can't get excited for those acoustic session tracks apart from Liam's vocals. You can see/hear him take deep breaths after each part which is definitely helping his delivery. The songs sound kind of average stripped down but I'd imagine most this record would sound that way, it's all about the production this time around & hopefully they've struck gold throughout.

^definitely. i'm kind of over acoustic guitar performances, the only thing of interest is liams lovely vocals. really looking forward to the production jobs on most of these tracks, i think the oft-mooted idea of a song being at its best or showing its true quality in acoustic format is bullshit anyway.

nah, I like these tunes, but realistically if the melodies, hooks and chorus aren't there but you try to cover it with 'production' you end up with DOYS

Right, so I did some investigating, turns out the Jean Paul Marat quote in Flick of the Finger is on the back of the Style Council's Café Bleu album. Now if only the BE record will be half as pioneering as the Style Council I'm a happy man.

Whether it was good or bad is debatable but I think the band spent more time on the sound of that record, and the nice little touches (bits between songs etc) than any other album. But you can spend forever merging the seagull sqwaks into the start of falling down, but if you're writing songs like high horse lsdy, you're screwed

DOYS is very under-rated imo
