If BE is half as good as DOYS then i'll be happy. Sure DOYS is only half done, but so far what did we get ? one hugely shit single, one recycled Oasis half arsed melody and another half a song that could be good with production but sounds really lazy on acoustic. How can you come up with Start Anew, which is a great verse, and not want to develop it furthermore ?
The good thing is Liam finally understood he didn't need to yell to sing so hopefully the gigs will be good.

Aye I've completely marked out for Start Anew n all. Cant get it out of my head, keep going back to the video - Second Bite is a cool tune but ultimately a bit of a clusterfuck that should sound good on the album, but Start Anew is a reet doll

The uncut review is a positive one
Producer Dave Sitek introduces Liam Gallagher's gang to modern music. Throbbing drums, fanfare brass, and a piece of 18th-century revolutionary polemic read by fonejacker comedian Kayvan Novak. "flick of the Finger", the opener to Beady Eye's second album, couldn't make the radical effect TV On The Radio's Sitek has had on Oasis-without Noel any more clear. Liam Gallagher's own "Don't Brother Me" holds out a somewhat thorny olive branch to Noel. But it's the album's deft balance between Sitek's freewheeling and darkly ambient aesthetic and the familiar sub-Beatles melodies that makes BE a bold leap forward in the mould of Paul Weller's recent psych-inspired reinventions. 7/10

The comparison to recent Weller is a pretty cool compliment tbh.

Yeah that was my favourite part. Lately Weller has managed to flirt with different genres you wouldn't associate with him whilst still sounding like himself.
Please, no Weller back-chat, Chrissie

Review in the Star newspaper yesterday said the album is good, but too many ballads on there

Realistically these 7/10's are really 10's but the reviewers are too scared to the first to stick their necks out!

Please, no Weller back-chat, Chrissie The second I read that review my fingers began to throb as I prepared to wade in and deliver another stunning put down to Weller and his followers. But I won't, we all know that BE will be 100x better than anything he's done and I respect that the mood in this thread is a POSITIVE one as the clock ticks down to the time we can all finally hear the album of the year.
