Yeah, lyrically, it leaves a lot to be desired. There's no absolute clunkers in there; as Baz says, it's just boring.

Musically, I like it. Bright & shimmering are 2 words that sprung to mind. I'm sure it'll benefit from hearing a proper album rip.

As it stands, from what we've heard from the record, I'm rating the tracks as follows:

Flick of The Finger - 9
Soul Love - 8.5
Second Bite of The Apple - 7.5
Iz Rite - 7
Off At The Next Exit - 8 (I know, it's a bonus track, but it's lovely)

I've not heard one stinker tbh. I'm sure Start Anew is going to sound lovely. I'd give the acoustic version we've heard an 8 so with good production it could easily be an 8.5.

Really nice track but the lyrics - why can't they write a decent set of lyrics. ffs.

Noel should just quit High Flying Birds and join Beady Eye. He can do the lyrics and maybe a bit of guitar, but thats it.

i know people will say that we didn't listen to oasis for the lyrics and they don't matter and neither do the videos...but i'm not sure i buy that anymore. it would take half an hour to write lyrics that aren't as hackneyed, that actually attempt to say something ANYTHING beyond the usual shine/light/mind/soul/name/come on combos.

it's a shame as i fucking love everything else about this tune already and it doesn't overly hamper my enjoyment of it, but still.

What could they call the band though?

BDI.

I've never been convinced by anyone who says Oasis lyrics were shit. The words/sentiment in songs like Whatever, Live Forever, Stay Young and Cigarettes & Alcohol, just as a handful of examples, are brilliant.

This brings us on to - favourite BDI lyric? I really like this tbh:
"Mindless conversation there's nothing just quite like, first thing in the morning 'bout what we did last night"

Bdi have some great lines, but then follow it up with the banal e.g "it's a beautiful world when you know who you are / moving too fast in the back on a car"

Kill For A Dream is the most embarrassing thing Beady Eye have done in terms of lyrics.

I can't listen to it without cringing.

And you say to the driver "just drive"
