After Karl's scathing 'BE' review i suggest anyone going to the Roses tells Karl to meet them in one pub and then everyone go to a completely different one.

After today's showing, I wouldn't be surprised if Karl ditched the pub and went for a coffee to listen to Noel's High Flying Turds.

Respect to Mahoney for giving an honest summary of the record unlike a lot of people on here who will just say it's great because it's Liam. Yes it's awful, slightly better than the first one. Yes Noel's album was better but only just. The way forward is simple. Oasis to reform. The proper Oasis. Liam,Noel,Bonehead,Guigsy. Not arsed which drummer they choose. Not as daft as it may seem. Money talks. 24.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_mbhzqqCLGb1qgmm1po1_500.jpgOasis' great stuff was done all the way back in the 90's (everything after that was either OK/good or average or Little by Little.*edit* wait, SOTSOG is from 2000, so 90's/2000). They're in their 40's now, filthy rich, and clearly don't have "it" anymore. There's no need for Oasis to reform, let's leave space for new music coming out that's actually changing the music "scene", just as Oasis did in the 90's. Is it better to burn out than to fade away, etc?

Gave it another spin this morning (probably like my 5th or 6th listen through) while preparing lunch. I can even deal with Face The Crowd & Don't Brother Me because the album as a whole just feels right.
It's such a massive shame about the shitty lyrics scattered throughout.

Man, I still really like the album but if they'd have put a bit more effort into some of the lyrics it could've been even better.
Loving Soon Come Tomorrow at the minute; some great stuff going on with that track.
Don't Brother Me really brothers me. As a 3 or 4 minute track, I think it would work a lot better.

basically, every track is 10/10 apart from the weak girls in uniform which gets 9/10 its the best album in human history, and anyone who disagrees is a massive queer. BDI4IT

My favourite moments reading back since my last failed login are mahoney's Oasis love-in and lukebox's enjoyment of Ballroom Figured, as I've recently discovered how lovely that track is.

I'm giving it the first spin at the moment and I want to say just one thing for now: if lay people spend 15 quid on this record based on the premise of Flick of the Finger (personality, originality, boldness and good lyrics), they should ask for a refund because the rest of the album has none of that stuff.

At first I have to say, I did not like most of the lyrics, sure some are still terrible and outright lazy, but songs like "I'm just saying" "Flick of the finger" "Soul Love" "Iz Rite" just work brilliantly. "Second Bite" is embarrassing lyrics wise, sounds like a 3rd grader sent a letter to Liam and he showed it to the bandmates, telling them what he just wrote. Sure some other lyrics sound lazy, but they sound very honest in delivery at least. The acoustic performance the band gave at abbey road gave the songs more relevance and I think changed a lot of opinions of these songs by offering the listener a different perspective. I personally give the album a 7/10. A good effort.
