"England, Scotland, Wales and the Republic of Ireland have told Uefa they want to stage European Championship matches in 2020.

Uefa says 32 of its members have stated an interest in hosting games after deciding the tournament would be shared among 13 cities across Europe.

The English Football Association wants to host either the 'finals' package - which is the semi-finals and final - at Wembley, or a 'standard' package of three group games and a knockout round match, while Scotland is keen on the latter."

The 32 countries interested in hosting Euro 2020 games:

Armenia (Yerevan), Azerbaijan (Baku), Belarus (Minsk), Belgium (Brussels), Bulgaria (Sofia), Croatia (Zagreb), Czech Republic (Prague), Denmark (Copenhagen), England (TCOTU), Finland (Helsinki), France (Lyon), Macedonia (Skopje), Germany (Munich), Greece (Athens), Hungary (Budapest), Israel (Jerusalem), Italy (Rome and Milan), Kazakhstan (Astana), Netherlands (Amsterdam), Poland (Warsaw and Chorzow), Portugal (Lisbon and Porto), Republic of Ireland (Dublin), Romania (Bucharest), Russia (St Petersburg), Scotland (Glasgow), Serbia (Belgrade), Spain (Madrid, Barcelona, Bilbao and Valencia), Sweden (Solna), Switzerland (Basel), Turkey (Istanbul), Ukraine (Kyiv and Donetsk) and Wales (Cardiff).

Interesting choices from Spain, no Camp Nou or Bernabeu amongst the candidates. I hope La Peineta and Nou Mestalla are not selected.

Don't be cruel...

I wasn't convinced about this, but now I can see it as a plan B for the expected disaster of Qatar's World Cup.

Nice to see TCOTU get the nod for England, they haven't quite benefitted enough from government favouritism i don't think.

On the doorstep [Siouxsie] asks me whether right or left would be the best direction to find a taxi, and although her best bet would be left, I suggest she turns right. It is churlish of me, but it is she who has set the pace.

Still not keen on this tbh. I just can't see it having that tournament feel to it. What was wrong with the existing Euro's? I just can't see why they changed it, before when you had one (sometimes two) countries hosting it, it was a massive boost for the host country. I remember Euro 96 being amazing, it was exciting just being here when that tournament was going on and it turned me onto football - not just the fact that england got home advantage but also the buzz of having thousands of other nationalities spread around the country supporting their sides. It just won't be the same having national sides trekking around 13 different cities in 13 different countries or whatever the format is. In this day and age it's obviously possible to spread it around a continent the size of Europe and it'll probably make more money, but in doing so they will lose the essence of the tournament.

I think it's because TCOTU is seen as the footballing capital despite Chelsea and Arsenal having not won a title between them for a good few years.

Oh wait, Arsenal are currently top!!!!!!! Silly me.

I think it's not a great idea and hated the idea at first, but then its going to be a much better fan experience than Russia 2018 (Only two or three decent cities and the rest indusrialised racist shitholes) and Qatar 2022 (lolololol).

I'm sort of coming round to it, Platini said it's going to be a one off so that's good, and with European flights being so cheap (and plus there's a good European train network), it could be pretty fun taking a couple of weeks off work and going to Paris, Berlin, Rome and Barcelona for example. And I can't wait til next summer but fuck going to next years' WC is a pain in the arse to organise stuff for.

"Uefa has revealed that the final and semi-finals of Euro 2020 will be held in either TCOTU or Munich, with its decision being revealed on 19 September.

Both the English and German FAs were revealed to have submitted bid dossiers for the semi-finals/final package at the tournament, which is being staged in 13 cities across Europe.

Uefa also unveiled the list of 19 member associations and cities which have also submitted bids for the 'standard package', which entails hosting three group matches and one knockout round game in either the last 16 or quarter-finals, 12 of whom will be successful. They are:

Azerbaijan/Baku, Belarus/Minsk, Belgium/Brussels, Bulgaria/Sofia, Denmark/Copenhagen, England/TCOTU, FYROM/Skopje, Germany/Munich, Hungary/Budapest, Israel/Jerusalem, Italy/Rome, Holland/Amsterdam, Republic of Ireland/Dublin, Romania/Bucharest, Russia/Saint Petersburg, Scotland/Glasgow, Spain/Bilbao, Sweden/Stockholm, Wales/Cardiff."

I'm absolutely fascinated with the stupidity of the UEFA. They always find new ways to surpass themselves, bet they have the brilliant idea of putting 22 referees in each game. I mean, Bilbao have publicly said they won't allow the Spanish squad to play there as local (each city MUST have at least one game of their national team), surely they could have chosen another one? But that's just the latest example of their way of thinking filling their pockets.

Thing is, whoever gets the final/semi finals won't be able to hold the proper Euro tournament for a while, one would think. So I hope Germany gets it.
