..most people either don't rate, or don't rate nearly as highly as you do. Was just listening to Neil Young's American Stars 'N Bars which is considered to be a hugely disappointing release from his golden era & is only remembered for Like A Hurricane. He's made many records which are bigger artistic statements with are musically better with stronger tracks but I just seem to always come back to it. Outside of Zuma & Goldrush it's the Neil Young record I come back to the most often. The Jam's The Gift, most Jam fans seem to hate the change of direction but for me it's the best record they ever did but nobody would agree Clear Spot is my favourite Captain Beefheart record & one of my all-time favourite records. Most people don't rate it, some people think it was him selling out. It's definitely very mainstream and un-beefheart but as a collection of songs it's always the one I come back to again and again. Everybody on earth seems to think Kate Bush's best record is either The Dreaming or Hounds Of Love but her debut The Kick Inside is my favourite by an absolute mile and the only record of hers that I truly love start to finish. End Times I think most Eels fans on this board really liked but judging by it's RYM rating and what I've seen in reviews and on other boards most people really didn't like it. For me it's E's best work with Blinking Lights. I've been dipping my feet with Parliament/Funkadelic lately and the first Parliament LP Osmium isn't regarded as very good but I love it. Have struggled a bit with some of their more highly regarded material. Let It Come Down is the best Spiritualized record in my book. I've never understood why people think Ladies 'N Gents is that great. Most people seem to think Let It Come Down was a big disappointment. I'm sure I'll think of more later but anyway, what are yours?

Blur by Blur is easily my fave Blur album by Blur. Blur. It's the perfect bridge between pop Blur and experimental Blur. Both eras get celebrated but the bridge record doesn't it. It's brilliant though. Blur.
I really like Hold on Now, Youngster... by Los Campesinos!, I don't think I've ever spoken about that album or seen it written about anywhere. It's big, fun and occassionaly KICK ASS though.
I prefer the Cajun Dance Party album to the Yuck album as well.

The Kinks - Lola vs. Powerman, Though they have many brilliant albums, this has always been my favourite. Sweet Exorcist by Curtis Mayfield, Everybody always goes with Superfly or Curtis, which are great, but this one is his best imo. Primal Scream - Xtrmntr, By far my PS favourite Ride - Carnival of Light, not necessarily better than the previous two, or well, it isn't , but I love it. Think they lost about half of their fanbase with it as well. Sly & the Family Stone - Fresh and Stand, both as good as There's a Riot Goin' On, if not slightly better.

I don't know, looking at their RYM score now Xtrmntr is their highest rated. I always had the impression most people thought Screamadelica was their best.

After 'sound affects', it's right up there. Ghosts is my favourite thing weller's ever done. And happy together, town called malice, running on the spot, 5 o'clock hero etc etc. Great album. Mine is the stones 'steel wheels'. No idea why, but it was the first 'real' album I got into when I was a kid. Still love it irrationally to this day.

The Kinks - Lola vs. Powerman, Though they have many brilliant albums, this has always been my favourite. Agree. Everybody despises Let It Be, but I seem to miss all its suposed flaws, I love every little thing of it. It is regarded as a minor work, and it probably should, but Nashville Skyline makes me melt. It isn't critizised here, but the very much maligned Be Here Now is the biggest album ever. Ignore The Ignorant, best Cribs album. FACT. And sometimes I wonder why people don't fill the streets every day celebrating the perfection of Howl by BRMC. Oh, and of course... MANDO DIAO - BRING 'EM IN!!!!

One vote for Lola vs Powerman - the songs individually may be less original and charming than the stuff on Village Green and Something Else, but as a whole record, the way it flows, it's one of their best.
Joni Mitchell's Hejira is considered sub par compared with Blue and Court & Spark but I like it more than the two put together and it's in my top-5 records ever.
Josephine by Magnolia Electric Co. got average reviews but I thought it was super, like, you can't do much better than that.
Take Them On, On Your Own is still my favourite BRMC album. Also, Doves' Kingdom of Rust: I am an enormous Doves fan and I think all of their records are excellent, but Kingdom of Rust sits on top of all.

After Revolver Let It Be is my favourite Batles album as well.
The Fall - Perverted By Language, always been my favourite Fall album. Most people would go with Hex or This Nations Saving Grace, both albums would struggle to make my top 5.

Ryan Adams 29, nobody ever mentions this but I think after Love is Hell pt.1 it's the strongest thing he's ever put out. It's so desolate and sad, but then there are these bursts of hysteria like The Sadness and Voices. A bleak and haunting album.
Really like Klang by The Rakes too, great modern British pop songs from start to end. Second album was a bit duff though and everyone seemed to give up on them after that.
