Spike Stent.
Those two vids give a slightly disingenuous comparison, seeing as Sardy's mix is limited to the tracks Morris recorded. The Owen Morris sound was an integral part of early Oasis and they wouldn't be the band they were without it. You could probably argue that there's more to Sardy's work, in terms of separation between the instruments (i.e. there is some) and what not, but I always felt his sounds were pretty lazy and formulaic regardless of what tune it was - you can hear it a mile off that it's a Sardy production, and worryingly it's not too dissimilar to what he did with Jet. Steve Lilywhite managed to do the same thing 100x better on Different Gear, Still Speeding.

I really dislike the sound of the whole sardy era, overproduced massively for me. Would love to hear an oasis/noel/beady eye record where it actually sounds like a band in a room playing instruments tOgether

Sardy succeeded in making Oasis - a band famed for their in-your-face, balls to the floor approach - sound as flat as Kira Knightley's chest.
Don't Believe The Truth has some decent songs on it. But as a record it's IMO the worst sounding record Oasis out of the lot. Even worse than Heathen Chemistry. At least Noel managed to score some hits on HC like SCYHO.
Morris's record on the other hand speaks for itself. The sound of Alan White's drums on Roll With It alone is 100x better than anything Sardy came up with on two albums.

? ??
SCYHO was #4. Don't believe the truth had 2 #1 singles and a #2.
That said, I hate the sardy sound. With the exception of the importance of being idle and the first 3 songs on dig out your soul.

I'm talking hit as in it sounded great. I really couldn't give a flying fuck about chart positions.

The Importance Of Being Idle is one of the worst songs in the history of mankind. I can't stand it. Noel's whinny voice ruins it.

Don't Believe The Truth is miles better than than the shit heap that is Heathen Chemistry. The good thing about DBTT is that much of the work had been done before it got to Sardy.
Liam's songs especially on that record have a bit of a live feel about them.

They are both shite though, let's be honest.
It's the first four albums, ain't it. And Dig Out Your Soul. And The Masterplan. And the other b-sides. And Whatever. Oh and Bonehead's Bank Holiday.
Anyway, Morris by far.
