I've been listening to this album a lot in the past few days, I remember liking it at the time, but I now think it's a real masterpiece. IMO it's the greatest LP they ever did - it has none of the cheesy, knees-up-mother-brown bollocks that characterised so much of their mid-90s output, or the awful, awful singalong crap like Tender. And it proves they didn't really need that miserable drunk Coxon Ambulance > Coxon's entire solo career

An underrated record for sure. Some great songs spread throughout, though Crazy Beat is clear evidence to just how much they missed having Graham in the band.

The intro to Crazy Beat makes me want to jump out of the nearest window, but come on guys, let's look at the positives!
Like JETS. Massive!
I'm so glad that the one time I saw Blur, Simon Tong was on lead guitar.

It has some brilliant moments, but I've never got fully into it. Then again, the vast majority of Blur's albums are inconsistent or 1/2 songs too long. Given the way this thread is going, I might as well say that my allegiances lie with Modern Life is Rubbish and the self titled album.
Listened to The Great Escape while I was on holiday, it's utter dogshit bar the run between The Universal and It Could Be You.

Best Days is a really great song I think, its let down a bit by the shiny production which doesn't quite suit it, but still a really lovely song.

1st side if TGE is a succession of Morning Glory-rivalling britpop bullseyes imo. Second half is really pish til it gets to Yuko & Hiro

Lately Chrissie is being so controversial! It wasn't me that posted a 600 word resignation letter to Team BDI

It's gonna be like the Red Wedding tonight.
4 seconds of Flick, big grin on Karlos' face and then an arrow through the eye before Rhino comes out and stabs him in the gut with The Swede's head on a poll.

I'm going to stand at the back and moan how this isn't as exciting as Bruce Springsteen.

I would never harm The Swede! I bet Karl spends tonight loving every minute of every song, in between telling Sam "don't tell the lads on the forum"
