I was supposed to go to the show in Toronto the night after he collapsed in Philadelphia, which was obviously cancelled. Never got to see them.
RIP, funnyman.

I knew of his brain tumour, but as far as I knew it had been dealt with/kept under control so it was a bit of a shock to hear of his passing.
RIP, the man helped soundtrack many a great night out & more importantly always came across as a lovely fella too.

Actually quite gutted about this, they've been one of my favourite bands for as long as I can remember and the one time I met him he was a genuinely lovely bloke. Have to say when they got the signs weren't great when they had to get Pete Salisbury back in this summer - like Karl says, it'd sounded like all was well when he went into remission after the initial treatment. Seeing Tim Burgess speak at the book festival here on Thursday so I'll be interested to hear what he says about this & the future of the band but, yeah, RIP.
Still...

real sad news. like others, obviously had read he'd been ill and stuff but always kinda assumed he was doing ok now. ive a feeling this could be the end of the charlatans but who knows, theyve certainly been through tough times in the past and continued.
RIP

I saw Tim Burgess at the Edinburgh festival last night, he was speaking about his book with Ian Rankin. He looked shattered tbh, as you can imagine. It was pretty emotional at times. Rod had to leave because he was sobbing so loudly.

Fair play to Tim for going through with it. Would of been understandable had he cancelled.
