I was going to write demo's that are better than the original recordings, but I guess they are the originals ha.
What are they?
Obvious mentions for me go to That's Entertainment and Live Forever, gotta be a full playlist's worth more though?

I always loved songbird, they should have played it live like that
There's a version of 8 days a week that starts with a little "oooooh oooooh" bit that's great, rather than the guitar intro.
Not really a demo, but a first take, love 'i've got a feeling' off the anthology, I can't even quite put my finger on why it's better than the master, but there's something....

In all fairness I usually prefer the released versions, but I completely love some of those tracks from the Anthology on their own, with no need of a competition. And Your Bird Can Sing and Got to Get You Into My Life

The Hindu Times is an obvious one. The demo with Noel on vocals and different lyrics. It had a real darkness about it. Where as the released version is just forgetable, really.

Bob Dylan is an obvious example - he had a thing for picking up the worst studio takes and put them on his records. If you think of Blood on the Tracks, half of the songs were re-recorded, but Tangled Up In Blue, Idiot Wind and If You See Her Say Hello are better in their "work in progress" incarnation than the finished product. Spanish Is The Loving Tongue might be the finest example ever - the final recording is so shite I couldn't even find it on youtube, while the demo is a most beautiful song
now who in the right mind would scrap a song like that!?

Someone who can fill 10 editions of bootleg series, each of them being easily better than the 99% of the releases by any other artist or band.
