Fade Away wouldn't get on Radio 1 now if it was released by a 46-year-old Noel Gallagher. Maybe if it was released by a bunch of 20-somethings, as it originally was. However, as long as Zane Lowe has got a show on Radio 1, Liam & Noel will always be invited back when they've got something to promote. |

I feel the only way Noel/Oasis could be monumental again is if they didn't make songs that were so radio friendly, as per Giants. Saying that, if a reform did happen, the comeback single would need to be a massive stomper. My Big Mouth part two.

Even if Oasis reformed tomorrow and had a new single out Monday, they wouldn't get on Radio 1, they are now wrinkly old rockers and frankly have no place on Radio 1 anymore. Those days ended with the cull of Dave Lee Travis, Steve Wright, Simon Mayo and that lot, even since then Radio 1 has been firmly focused on new, more fashionable music by younger artists. Zane Lowe might give them an hour of lip service, but that'll be it - his is an evening specialist show and he gets a certain amount of editorial control. He'll be gone himself within a couple of years or two. The daytime DJs just play what they are told and the rest of the schedule is dedicated to the kind of genres Oasis/Noel/Beady Eye just don't fit in. Sign of the times. Liam just might get on there if he ever decided to do a guest vocal on some hip new things track. I think Noel had his fun with the Chemical Brothers in the day, don't think he'd fit in any more. |
