both ryan adams records are superb. the self titled has blown me away on first listen. ive spent most of the year listening to the likes of war on drugs, tom petty, bruce springsteen, hold steady etc and hes gone and made an album ripping off all the best bits of those acts. what a guy.

Went through the RYM list for this year and found this album by an alternative (or something like that?) folk band called Natural Snow Buildings. It basically sounds like Nico, but without annoying John Cales. checked the rop rated album by them and that's 2,5 hours of alright boredom, obviously. Anyone familiar with them?

Has the new DFA1979 leaked yet? The reviews I've seen have raved about it. Their debut still stands up as one of the best LPs of the '00s.

Hello Saferide have a new album out. I really like them/her and so does Der Effe, or so I learned thanks to the search function. But Findus doesn't.  This is swedish and I guess this qualifies as twee, with a modern touch in the production (producer Andreas Mattsson used to be in the Popsicle) & a lot of slower, darker tracks. |
