Was on the tram earlier with a can of krburg so stuck on Stay Young and almost burst into tears. Until the end, the band of my life. This is all.

Noisey is where the articles too shite even for Vice go to die. The guy that's interviewed there has written about DM for the Quietus, it's a much better read and he makes a few good points about The Boys and their music. I'd post a link but I still don't know how you do that on a mobile #2014

Now Deerhunter (and Bradford, and Lockett too) have been too silent for a while, good back to back reads about Monomania, which is 10 this weekend. Only 2nd to Bowie's Blackstar for me on my top list of the decade. This record and the following live performances I witnessed turned me from an sceptic to a total devout. www.stereogum.com/1330682/premature-evaluation-deerhunter-monomania/reviews/premature-evaluation/and www.stereogum.com/2222596/deerhunter-monomania-turns-10/reviews/the-anniversary/Surprised the premature evaluation was so positive back then, as it mostly felt like a raw rock departure from the indie world they had been torchbearers of and were now refusing. And not only that, it feels very spot on both about describing the sound, references and intentions of a very enigmatic figure and his work. In fact, the "turns 10" by a different reviewer feels like finally acknowledging its greatness and how releasing "the last rock ānā roll record ever made" in the middle of a promising upwards career led to, well, not much actually. Like this article says and similarly to the best Gallagher banter, not only are his talents missed, his bigmouth antics would be quite refreshing nowadays too. Plus always good to revisit one of the best TV performances of that decade: Like, seriously, do yourself a favour and watch that video at full volume to the very end. Iconic
