It's a pretty famous one, sung by a woman. It's not Blondie and don't think it's by Patti Smith but might be something similar. The chorus ends with a repetition of a phrasal verb I don't remember, something like "play on, play on, play on" but it's definitely not play.
Any clues? It's been on my mind for a while and need to find it out.

Just by reading that, I'll be singing it for the rest of the night. Barn, are you sure it's not More Than A Feeling by Boston?

Yeah, when he said it I did think "This sounds like it could be More Than A Feeling"
or Visage.

More Than A Feeling is the closest we've got, but we're still far away tbh

Is it definitely 80s?
Could be Florence and the Machine if it was modern.

Could be from late 70s, 80s or up to mid 90s, not modern. And a bit more rock than that Fleetwood Mac song but quite catchy and pop too.

You guys, I have a song stuck in my head too. It's definitely from at least the last hundred years and has a male (and possibly a very manly woman) saying "the" at least 6 times in the song. Help a brother out?
WE NEED MORE DETAILS, BARN.

You guys, I have a song stuck in my head too. It's definitely from the 80s and contains some of these lyrics, I can't put my finger on it.
Huh, yeah, woo, hey yeah, huh Ooh yeah, uh huh, yeah
I want to dance
Clock strikes upon the hour And the sun begins to fade Still enough time to figure out How to chase my blues away I've done alright up 'til now It's the light of day that shows me how And when the night falls Loneliness calls
[Chorus 2x:] Oh! I wanna dance with somebody I wanna feel the heat with somebody Yeah! I wanna dance with somebody With somebody who loves me
I've been in love and lost my senses Spinning through the town Sooner or later the fever ends And I wind up feeling down I need a man who'll take a chance On a love that burns hot enough to last So when the night falls My lonely heart calls
[Chorus 2x]
Somebody who somebody who.... somebody who loves me, Somebody who somebody who... to hold me in his arms. I need a man who'll take a chance, On a love that burns hot enough to last. So when the night falls, My lonely heart calls.
[Chorus 2x]
Uh-Huh (Dance) Common, baby (Dance) Woo, yeah (Dance) Now get with this, hahaha Whoa, oh, oh
Don't you wanna dance (dance) With me baby? Don't you wanna dance (dance) With me boy? Don't you wanna dance (dance) With me baby?
With somebody who loves me
Don't you wanna dance? Say you wanna dance? Don't you wanna dance? (Dance) Don't you wanna dance? Say you wanna dance? Don't you wanna dance? (Dance) Don't you wanna dance? Say you wanna dance...(Dance) Uh-huh With somebody who loves me
