is it worth it? I've just been so bored that the idea of having all my music in the flac format sounded like a fun time. Do you need expensive headphones & speakers to tell a difference or is it audible from the get go on mid range equipment?

There is a definite difference in FLAC and 320 MP3s. The former is just much fuller in sound, and you can play files at higher volume without it distorting. I don't think you need expensive audio equipment, but if you're using shitty earphones or whatever it doesn't matter what you're listening to.
But tbh, I rarely use it because my iPhone doesn't play FLAC files so I can't take them on the move. I have a few older albums that haven't been remastered on FLAC as they sound better, for example Lust for Life by Iggy, but that's about it.

I'm getting WTSMG on flac and I've got a pair of decent cans and harman and kardon speakers. Does an Ipod play flac? I have zero tunes on my lg g2 because it sounds flat,I just carry around random playlist on spotify.
Thanks man

No, an iPod, iTunes etc won't play FLAC. I gave up buying individual music players years ago, so I don't know any that will.
But if you're planning to listen to a few albums at home, just download VLC player and use your headphones or whatever. I'm sure you'll be able to tell the difference.

You can use AIFF, which is lossless, but I am not sure how it stacks up vs FLAC.
All the Best

They've now given me 1 invite as since freeleach i've managed to pump up my ratio to over 2.5 So yeah either of you is welcome to it on the condition that you promise to keep a healthy ratio. The problem with what.cd is that if a person you invite on there abuses the system and can't maintain a healthy ratio the inviter as well as the invitee gets banned. Anyway, i'll toss a coin for it, anyone wanna call it?

I am way too busy for it man, besides I just realized you can download a ton of flac files from soulseek which is the best thing since audiogalaxy.
Therefore I suggest you toss the invite over to Mozambique ,he'd surely make a better use of it and not get you banned. I appreciate it anyhow

Soulseek is a godsend. I've said it a 1000 times, but I really don't understand why people don't use it. I know there's the inconvenience if the person you are downloading from goes off-line but apart from that I can get literally anything I want, usually pretty fast too.
I can't be arsed with FLAC tbh, I think maybe to download the occasional album that you really need in high quality but considering I do most my listening at work through a cheap pair of I-pod earphones there isn't much benefit. But each to their own, higher quality is always a plus. I just can't hear enough difference through my set-up to make it worth bothering with.

I use to be all about soulseek, for some reason I stopped using it then rediscovered it and like you've said, it's simply the best.
Well I recently bought a TB hard drive and just wanted to stock it up with the best quality available. Been downloading movies in HD like crazy too but you can tell that the sound from flac doesn't sound flat which I can't stand.

Soulseek is a godsend. I've said it a 1000 times, but I really don't understand why people don't use it. Soulseek is very, very good for older stuff and rarer albums. I started using it again last year for the first time since 2004 or something. For newer stuff I still use piratebay as it's quicker. Fake edit: why do you use shitty iPhone headphones when you're out Karl? Is it because the guys at the depot will laugh if you got a pair of hipster style cans?

As much as I'd love to have a high quality pair of cans for work it wouldn't be practical. I'm constantly having to pull one out/hit pause to deal with people, so having something that I can easily pull one out or use the pause is a essential. Also I wouldn't fancy having an expensive pair of Cans getting soaked in the rain every other day. I never have music on at work THAT loud so the standard I-phone ones do me fine, plus I can answer phone-calls easily on the hands-free so they are ideal for what they are.
I use a solid pair of Sennheiser's at home that do the job nicely.

I love my headphones, got a pair of open back Grados for wearing in the house when Jess is watching tv and I can't blast shit out of my sound system. Can't believe how much better open back cans are that closed, it just adds so much space and range to the sounds your hearing.
