A thread for all things a-geeky music wise.
I've never owned very good headphones before. The best i've had were always Klipsch Image S4 IEMs at about £60, which had really good sound for what they were.
I've just bought a pair of Beyer-Dynamic DT1350 on-ears (£190) and a FiiO E11 K Headphone Amp (£60) to go with it.

OH MY GIDDY GOD. The sound difference is extraordinary. There's so many details that I didn't know were there, even in favuorite songs. And as well as picking up stuff you don't usually hear, the clarity it adds to the stuff you do normally hear is amazing. I was listening to Nick Cave's No More Shall We Part album last night and it was like I was sat next to the piano.
The amp is slightly fatter but overall smaller than the iphone i'm using, but comes with a rubber band to pair them together and little stick on rubber 'feet' to stop the amp scratching the iphone. It makes it more cumbersome when on the go, but it's absolutely worth it. Might not be saying the same thing in the summer when I don't have big coat pockets though.
I have all files on my phone (spotify and itunes) at 320kbps, I can only imagine what they'd sound like if lossless.
