The sheer mention of Life Without Buildings is enough to hook me in. Will check these out as soon as I'm home from work.

The sheer mention of Life Without Buildings is enough to hook me in. Will check these out as soon as I'm home from work. I meant to recommend these to you for a while for the same reason, I was planning on doing a 'favourite EP's and odd's and sod's' additional post to my end of year thing, but never got round to it like a lazy cunt, and what with them having next to nothing online. Glad they've finally plunged into the world of Bandcamp. At the last gig I saw them, probably only 50-75 people there, but James Endecott turned up and my mate who knows them and put the night on reckons that quite a few labels are looking at them, which is why they've kept a pretty low profile so far. But being given support slots like those suggests that they might be making a bit of a step up.

Oh look another band I discovered that Kevin is trying to steal all the glory for. "I never got around to it". Jog on mate, you snooze you lose.

Look at this lovely photo i took of them, back on the 4th JANUARY, you wank! Probably while you were wanking over CD inserts of forgotten Robert Pollard albums.

Dry Cleaning have just been confirmed as supporting Bodega in Norwich so I may have to reconsider my attendance.

Bodega @ Yes, Manchester - Enjoyed the hell out of this and the female singer has some great energy. She had also managed to find a bar stool in what is a venue with no seats and sat on it next to the bar at the back on her own watching the support bands looking cool as fuck.
Support was Gong Gong Gong, a two piece from Beijing. Just electric guitar and bass, sort of Spaceman 3'ish in places, though often just sounded like extended intro's to BRMC tunes. Enjoyed them for 4-5 songs but they seemed to be on for an eternity & lacked any kind of variety in their set. was ok.

Went to an all day Guided By Voices thing at the Stags head saturday and it was a blast. Bunch of bands performing Robert Pollard songs from all eras, great crowd.. tbh will probably be better than when I finally see him/them in May. The bands were surprisingly really tight, very impressive. Though the highlight of the night was when Krburg spotted an opportunity and took over the DJ set

see the hold steady at the electric ballroom last neet. Always been told how great live they are so had to check them out. First of all, tight band & how Craig Finn remembers all his lyrics is pretty impressive. However, I don't think I've ever been so embarrassed to be at a gig in my life. I've never seen a band & audience that is so white, so lacking edge & so sexless. The sad thing is, I KNEW what I was letting myself in for but ewwww. Proper cringey shit, people that white shouldn't be allowed to play in bands or even attend shows. Encouraging an audience to clap once in a gig is bad enough but these cunts do it every single song. I just looked around during the gig, and don't get me wrong here soapbox, I don't have a very high opinion of myself... but last night I just thought to myself, fuck this, I am so much better than every single one of these sad cunts in the building. To my credit, I managed 90 minutes & left.
I just looked around at all the ugly cunts in the crowd singing their hearts out & thought, I never want this to be me. It was so bad my faith in Springsteen shall now be challenged. Gonna have to go see at least half a dozen shit moody Jesus & Mary Chain ripoff bands to cleanse my soul. Heart on its sleeve rock and roll can fuck off, I want music to punch people to.

Haha fucking hell. I was genuinely expecting you to give it 5 stars. They've been incredible every time I've seen them and Craig Finn is one of my favourite frontmen.
Didn't realise you were too cool for The Hold Steady.

I'm sorry bruv, I hate to play the cool card because at the end of the day I am the cunt that just paid to see Lemonheads 3 times in a week; but the line has to be drawn somewhere.. & I'm putting it right between Craig Finn's annoying cunty face.

I'd understand it more had you not paid to see and enjoyed Jesse Malin numerous times over the years. No one is as cheesey as him.

TBH I've only paid to see Jesse Malin once in the past 10 years and that was because it was a Joe Strummer neet.. with hold steady members actually haha
Whatever mate, I'm above you and your cheeserock.

Saw the new formation of Teenage Fanclub on Saturday night in a small club in Montreal. Without Gerard Love in the band, they seemed to lean more on Blake's songs, which was entirely fine with me. Bit of a bizarre setlist, 2 songs off bandwagonesque and FIVE off songs from northern Britain, but they were fantastic. Inasmuch as two guys who look like college professors in a bar band can be. (They also threw in a random cover of the kids are alright in the encore, which was fun.) Good night out, and down to slowdive, the furries and bob mould on my creation records bingo card. 8/10
