they were hyping that gig when they played norwich the other week saying it was going to be their first ever headlining show. unbelievable that a band so good is only now getting round to doing their own shows.

I went to see sometime Ross County full-back Callum Easter launch his debut album on Saturday. Was at a proper old school social club in Edinburgh, the place was fucking rammed. Great atmosphere and a solid performance. I'll convert some Soapboxers on to him eventually! 8.

I don't think they have any kind of fanbase whatsoever. I went to see them again last night play Huw Stephens night at the Social. They were the second band on, when they started there was 2 of their friends, the DJ, the support band & me watching. By the end there was about 50 people, but I think that's cos people were expecting the main band to be on by then.

Do these Dry Cleaning fuckers have any kind of presence online? Found a couple of live videos and a t-shirt on sale via bandcamp. Apart from that nothing. The live videos don't do much for me but I'm not gonna judge them from some shit quality fan recorded video. One thing I will say is their band name is shite.

Actually I am going to judge them from the live videos. They're utter fucking wank, the lead singer has the charisma of a dead fish and the drummer makes Tony McCarroll sound like Keith Moon.
The singer's right in what she sings in 'Phone Scam' she is a horrible cunt.

Without doubt one of the best live bands I've ever seen.
Karl probably knows this but is too proud to admit it. Keep tugging the cock off yourself over some band you'll claim to have mentioned on here first only for Kev or JP to point out they posted about them months ago.

The GZA @ SWG3 This was billed as a Liquid Swords gig, with the album performed in full. Of course, anyone who has seen a rap legend do a similar show will realise what that really means is a kind of a mega-mix set, with the main man spitting rhymes on only the verses he wrote back in the day. In the GZA’s case, this meant he did precisely one verse of 4th Chamber, meaning the track lasted about 60 seconds It was an enjoyable gig. I last saw him seven years ago, where he was lucky if there were 600 people present. This gig was rammed, easily 1000 tickets sold for the SWG3’s biggest warehouse venue. The first 20 minutes he looked totally disinterested, then eventually found his groove and got really into it. He really could have done with a hype man on stage with him, instead of relying on shout outs from his DJ. But by the the time he played the opening track from Liquid Swords things got BIG. The GZA then got emotional and started telling the crowd it had been ‘a tough tour... but I’m glad to be in a city where muthafuckers know how to MOVE!’. He then stayed on past the curfew time and demanded the DJ start playing some James Brown 7.

What time did GZA come onstage Chrissie? I'm seeing him Wednesday and obviously hip hop acts are always on way later than advertised. I just want to make sure I can see all of the Spurs Man City game in the pub first.
I won a pair of tickets to see The Good The Bad and The Queen in Norwich tonight so just on my way back from that. Wasn't going to bother with it but a freebie is a freebie.
I last saw them headline Latitude in 2008 and it was pretty dull but this was really really good. Damon no longer hides behind the piano like he did back then and now combines the charisma and personalit yhe demonstrates with Blur a lot more with TGTBTQ. Paul Simonon was outrageous too. Such an incredible bassist and properly rocking the poses. One of the surprises of the year. 9/10

Sleaford Mods at Norwich Waterfront last night.
Brilliant as always. Never seen them have a bad gig. Was good to see them back in a smaller venue too though it was fucking heaving and full of huge fat blokes. Andrew's beats seemed to be a lot louder than before which gave the gig a bit more power and Jason was on top form. 9

Saw Black Country, New Road @ The Lexington last week. Hadn't really heard them before so was going in blind. Found it a mixed bag. They sound like a mix between Hope of the States, Melt Yourself down & Dexy's if they were more mooody & post-punk orientated. Some really great moments, others I wasn't sure about. Gravvl supported, 2 blokes with boxes with wires making nasty noises until one of them had a violin freakout Not what you want to hear on a weeknight when you're waiting for a band but I gotta say, I didn't mind it. Went to Bird on a Wire's 10th birthday in hackney wick Saturday. Lineup wasn't great tbh but Squid were fantastic, great energy. Also saw Black Country, New Road again, this time I was completely sold. The songs grabbed me, I think it helped that the sound was much louder this time around. Nice to have some new young bands to be excited about again.

GZA at Norwich Waterfront tonight.
Probably the worst hip hop gig I've been to. It wasn't awful and definitely got better towards the end but he looked like he didn't want to be there and lacked the energy a lot of hip hop performers have. Probably didn't help I spent the first 20 minutes of the gig glued to my phone after having to leave the pub watching the Spurs game half way through but a definite disappointed after some great gigs lately. 6/10

Found it a bit boring, but I think it was at least 50% my own fault.
