An acoustic version of Won't Get Fooled Again sounds like a terrible idea.

An acoustic version of Won't Get Fooled Again sounds like a terrible idea. I can’t think of a worse song to perform acoustically tbh

Not sure about this Mind you I reckon SRK must have seen the Who 87 times so it's probably nice to hear something a bit different at this point. Think I'd prefer a drum & bass version of behind blue eyes... or this

btw, I am going to start including PHOTOS in this thread. I would like you all to call me a sell-out shit cunt below please. I started doing this in about February this year as I've been going to mostly smaller venues so thought I might get a half decent shot. I have a STRICT 15 second rule from phone in pocket/take photo/phone back in pocket. It's just another sad day in the devolution of old man mahoney. But I'm sure one day my jank cameraphone shots of Dry Cleaning playing pubs will be revered like anton corbijn's joy division pics, which will give me an incredible amount of respect as an artist leading to somebody giving me a few million quid to direct a Wynd biopic.

Feel sorry for the poor bastards behind you. Absolutely desperate to see the singer of Dry Cleaning but unfortunately subjected to the front your I Phone 4 whilst you hold it up for minutes trying to get the perfect shot. Probably in black and white. FFS.

I can’t really call you a cunt for taking the odd camera phone pic at a gig, as I do it from time to time to stick on the Gram. But I CAN call you a cunt for posting phone pics from gigs on the forum. This is the internet at its most basic. We like text and ancient old emojis. You sell out cunt!

Any version of Won't Get Fooled Again sounds like a terrible idea. Spot the edgy cunt. Is Townshend trolling folk by playing the intro of The Seeker (I watched about 45 seconds until Brexit Daltrey's vocal started, then realised it was as terrible as I'd expected), or is it just because all 'Oo songs are based off the same three chord riff?

Saw WAND at studio 9294. Bastards didn't open the doors on time, was 2 supports so the gig didn't end until about 11:30, left 15 minutes before. Really impressed with the short set I got though. Lead guitar was monstrous in the mix, sounded great. They filled the room up with smoke to ridiculous levels. Canadian post-punk outfit N0V3L supported, pretty impressive, I like their EP. [photos not available on soapbox] Saw The Futureheads do an instore for their new record at Rough Trade East. Was on a Saturday night, yet they got smallish crowd which was a shame. New stuff sounded much better than it does on the record plus they did Meantime, Carnival Kids & Hounds of Love. That debut is still bloody marvellous. Will always have a soft spot for them [photos not available on soapbox] Went to Liverpool for the first time. Spent an afternoon in the Cavern club watching a few sets of acoustic covers. Gotta say, had a really great time in there. Was just a nice atmosphere. Though I got my request in for Mind Games and the bloke could only do the chorus. Quite funny seeing all the pictures of huge celebs that have visited and then this big frame for pictures of when Embrace were there [photos not available on soapbox] Frankie & The Witch fingers at the moth club. Thee MVP's were supposed to support but pulled out (thankfully, as they're shit). Some bloke called Tony Malaria supported, a one-man garage rock band using foot-drums. Wasn't very memorable, all his songs sounded the same. Frankie & the witch fingers have released a really great record this year called Zam that I'd say falls somewhere between Thee Oh Sees, King Gizzard & maybe a bit of Ty Segall. They came all the way from L.A and had a shit crowd, maybe 90 people. A shame because they are ace, high energy garage/psych-rock. I'm surprised people are sleeping on them, they have quite an accessible sound. [photo's not available on soapbox] then yesterday went to Gunnersbury park for their day festival thing. Badly Drawn Boy was on first, did his half a dozen big hits. Was alright, I like him as a person but it was a tad dull. Echo & The Bunnymen are a band who I've dabbed in and out of over the years but never really given them my full attention. Saw them at a festival about 10+ years ago and enjoyed it though can't remember much. Here they were superb, 50 minutes hit set, they're like a well oiled machine by this point, Will Sergeant was really impressive & from a distance Ian McCulloch still looks a cool bastard and has that do-nothing Liam style front-man thing about him that he pulls off perfectly. Doves headlined, was a little underwhelmed with the sommerset house gig with Rod. This was (I think) exactly the same set, yet it was just so much better this time around. The gig was held in the same tent they use for the John Peel stage so was nice and dark, sound was loud, crowd were into it & more importantly Jez's guitar was up high in the mix. I kinda forget how much I loved this band, never listen to them anymore but damn it felt good hearing them knock out those tunes again. [photos not available on soapbox]

Morrissey could get a swastika on his forhead & be arrested for noncing and I'd still hold him in higher regard than Dwayne at this point. Saw Flaming Lips at Brixton saturday. Had a feeling it wouldn't sell out so waited and got tickets for almost half price from Twickets the day before. They were doing the Soft Bulletin in full. I stayed off the booze this time as last time I saw them with Rod I can only remember Race for the Prize Anyway, the gig was fantastic as always. Wayne gets less tolerable each time I see them though. I don't mind his optimism, but it seems every song they play there's like 2 minutes of the band getting shit ready for the next song, and then once they're ready he starts milking it with the crowd. It feels 5 minuets of music, 4 minutes of bollox. Oh well, the piano version of Waitin' for Superman was great. Shame about Wayne, without him they could've done another 5 tunes. Wovoka Gentle supported, a 3-piece art-pop kinda thing, use alot of electronics plus a guitar. Wasn't bad, hard to tell at Brixton Academy, I rarely enjoy support slots there

Saw SUPERGRASS play Oslo in Hackney tonight. Popular forum members Mahoney and Krburg were also in attendance. They did a similar set to the Pilton Party thing the other day, but with a few extra songs thrown in. We moaned collectively beforehand about how much of a rip off it would be for them to do such a short set, but fuck me they were brilliant. Hands down the best performance I've seen them do, and a strong contender for my gig of the year. I was sweating from even my knees by the end of it. 10/10.
