fuuuuuck. You know there's something up when I'm the coolest person in the room! So many people looked inbred, this wasn't the cool crowd I expect when I go to these type of venues, god they all looked so pathetic!!

I grantee that this would just be drunken men pissing in a pool for 2 hours if it happened here.

I was half an hour short of pissing and swimming in the pool myself tbh. But yeah, I surely know what you mean, looking forward to some postcovid postbrexit British crowds in the summer anyway

The Libertines - Cardiff Uni on Saturday. I've seen them before and do enjoy them, but fuck they attract some dickheads in the crowd. If you could write a tick list of the type of prick you'd see at a gig they were all there Saturday. Anyway the gig itself was awesome, loadsa moshing wish I quite enjoy (the mrs didn't ) But after seeing Pete doing these songs up close and personal a good few times, I think I prefer that. Still 7/10

Sea Power with popular forum member Krburg at Rough Trade East last neet. They did the bulk of their new record & finished off with Remember Me, Waving Flags & The Great Skua. Still love them.

Yeh he does seem extremely happy, I've been to see him solo a good few times in the last few years and his mrs usually plays on stage with him.

DRY CLEANING & PVA world tour ratings: 01: Brighton: Concorde2 is a lovely venue, the sound was absolutely perfect for both bands. Bass lines sounded huge, guitars were piercing and Flo mixed at the right level. The PA had to be restarted after 2 songs because of this weird loud crackling sound but it was fixed in 10 minutes & Dry Cleaning played a blinder. PVA also were mixed perfectly. Had a great day in Brighton too, what a wonderful City. I really should get down there more. 02: Sheffield: the Leadmill was cool, a Saturday night with a crowd who were up for it. Never been to a gig where literally the SECOND the band finish it turns into a club & the entire room just go into indie anthem mode Gig was strong, sound not perfect but the energy was there. A wonderful day/night spent with popular forum members JP & Krburg too. Sheffield on the other hand.. I don't like to say this about where people live but fucking hell the City just felt dead. The Sunday morning it was completely deserted with only a few buses of Chinese potential students walking around with maps. There probably are nice parts, but the city centre had very little going for it. 03: Nottingham: Rescue Rooms. Had never been to Nottingham before, really surprised by it. Not sure what I expected, I guess anything after Sheffield would be a bonus but it's a lovely City. Nice size, lots of bars, everything looked nice. I'd imagine it'd be a fucking great place to live. Had a lovely day there. The gig.. walked there via google maps & saw a MASSIVE queue, I thought it was odd but got in, waited 10 minutes to get to the front.. only to realise we were queuing for a Wolf Alice gig at the venue next door The gig was on a Sunday & it felt like a Sunday crowd. Nobody really into it, everyone with work in the back of their mind. Dry Cleaning also felt like they were not in the mood/knackered. I've never seen the bass player so unanimated whilst performing. Still a strong gig, tho they didn't perform the planned encore, kept everyone waiting for 5 minutes and then the house lights came on. PVA were especially great that night. 04: TCOTU: Kentish town forum with popular forum members RodnKev. Was kinda cool to see them play a venue that size, felt like the end of an era someways after seeing them from their beginnings. The sound was proper shit for the first few tunes, so flat. Was as if they had made sure you could hear Flo's vocals perfectly but completely compromised everything else. It did sort itself out eventually & I think they just about pulled off the bigger venue. Was nice to see people going mental for the last few songs. 05: Nottingham: Rough Trade East. Was supposed to see them twice in one day but they fucking cancelled it (for the 3rd time). I went in there the day after and asked a staff member who basically said the singer had phoned them and said she had a sore throat she fucking talks FFS Inbetween that I saw a great gig at the Lexington. A band called Divorce opened. 3 piece from Nottingham doing a sort of alt-country/indie-rock thing. Really laying on the American style vocals, but their songs were pretty strong. Nothing special, but an enjoyable set & I could imagine they would make a pretty solid record. Peeping Drexels were a real surprise. I'd seen them at the Victoria about a year ago & it was that kinda aggressive shouty post-punk (a bit Idles but obviously not as shit), which was fine but they felt a bit one-note. Seeing them now they've adopted a much broader sound. The aggression is still there, but there were slower numbers, tunes driven by a synth, guitar solos. Really come on a long way, excellent set. Deadletter headlined, I'd seen them once previous at the Windmill which was great. Here they had sold out the Lexington & already have loads of fans singing along to every song going mad. The singers about 5 feet tall & absolutely full of energy, like early 90s Ashcroft or something. Great set, can see them appealing to a lot of people.

A quite incredible night at Norwich Waterfront in the small room tonight The Skinner Brothers headlined supported by JW Paris (featuring the bird drummer from Babyshambles) and The Chase. The Chase were about as original as their name suggests but I couldn't help but like them. They all had their instruments turned up full whack and the frontman was only a kid but thought he was Jagger. JW Paris were decent musically but the frontman had the tightest leather trousers I've ever seen which put me off. Skinner Brothers have released one of my albums.of the year even though I know I should hate it really. They ticked every lad stereotype from passing round a crate of Stella to the crowd, saying they wouldn't play on until some birds were on geezers shoulders and ended by saying geezers go enjoy your Saturday night and go put your dick in someone 10/10 all neet
