I thought she looked familiar, though she has some hair now. Did you see them with me before the legendary Andrew WK set?

Yeah that's it. She had a skinhead back then. Think I saw them on the lake stage at latitude once too with you.

Last neet at the new Cross Inn
Familiar Action - These weren't too bad, I'll check them out on record, though I fear they could be a bit annoying. Live it worked for the most part, kinda indie/post-punk but the poppier side with most songs having progressive kinda curveballs. House Arrest - Fucking awful. I was worried nobody was sticking around for Pozi, but it turned out House Arrest were just so fucking bad that everybody had decided to go outside. Complete tuneless posers. Pozi were ace, hadn't seen them since the beginning of the year. Did 4 new ones which sounded all positive, with one of them being really outstanding. They had some problems with the violin pedal board so everytime that hit there was a really nasty crackle sound. Other than that, what a bloody great band.

Got a last minute ticket for the taylor hawkins do (AKA, the Dave Grohl's gigantic ego experience) at wembley. A mixed bag, but I'll probably forget about the negatives as there was plenty of moments to make it worthwhile + Liam giving 10 minutes of power - Dave Grohl + Supergrass - Dave Grohl's using the opportunity to position his daughter as some kind of star, nobody wants to hear her sing Jeff Buckley + Justin Hawkins cat-suit - Dave Grohl's perfectly timed phony tears + Monkey Wrench - Dave Grohl doing a shit solo version of Everlong + Nile Rogers doing Let's Dance & Modern Love with Josh Homme + Supergaz - Josh Homme having the child that he slaps about run on stage to hug him + Finally getting to see McCartney before he dies - Having to see 2 members of Rush. Canada can never be forgiven + Kesha's dress - Wolfgang Van Halen's gut How were the Pretenders

Took my daughter to her first concert last night. I've thought way too hard about what her first concert would be since we knew she was on her way in late 2016, and figured it was highly unlikely she'd get to see one of my old-timey heroes, since by the time she was old enough to go to see/appreciate Macca or Dylan, they'd be dead, and Ringo only seemed to play 19+ casino shows. BUT! Ringo announced a few canadian non-casino shows in the spring, so i bought two good seats for a show in my hometown of Kingston. We drove up last night just the two of us, and it was unironically one of the most special nights of my life, to be able to share my love of the Beatles with her and sing along to yellow submarine and octopus' garden. The fact that we had to sit through 3 edgar winter songs was only a passing annoyance. His "All-Starr band" (and boy is that a loose term these days) consists of winter, a guy from Toto, Colin Hay and the guy out of average white band. I have to admit...colin hay was great, since Men at work have exactly 3 good songs.
Ringo sounds (relatively) great for his age, and no matter what anyone says about him, he was a beatle. And my daughter will always be able to say "I saw a Beatle for my first concert."
10/10

Editors yesterday, never been interested on them but my cousin loves em so there we went. Gotta say the addition of the Blank Mass guy to the lineup and the new record suits them quite well, enjoyed all the electronic leanings. Picturesque is a certified banger

Picturesque is a certified banger I kept seeing posters for this when I was visiting the other month. I need to ask Barny, I enjoyed a lot of the street art, but there is like a skinny black cartoon character with a heart on his chest that seems to be absolutely everywhere.. is there any meaning behind this? Or is this just the Valencian Banksy.

@ The Lexington with popular forum member Krburg. The Robocobra Quartet, fun set, definitely prefer them live to on record. I forget who was supposed to support but they sounded really good, must have pulled out because some folk artist with pedal loops called Heka supported, was fine I guess but wasn't what I was expecting or in the mood for. @ the 100 Club with popular forum member Krburg Scottish band HUMOUR opened, they were really shit. I got early Biffy Clyro vibes at times HEARTWORMS who have just had a single on speedy wunderground were on next, I think they've only done a few gigs. It was good in spots. The singer doesn't have much of a voice but uses it well, a few numbers I was really into. Will keep an eye on them. DEADLETTER headlined. Good band, got some real anthems & a fanbase big enough now where people are really into them. There's something stopping me from really loving this band though, perhaps its the singer, he's a good frontman until he speaks, he just comes across as a bit charmless. ANYWAY, good band. @ The Roundhouse with popular forum member Krburg BASS DRUM OF DEATH opened. I was a big fan of a record they put out about 10 years ago but tbh I haven't really thought about them since. They did a 40 minute set which was way too long considering all their songs sound the fucking same. Basically like the Von Bondies doing BRMC, it's a sound that I was obsessive about in about 2007 but it just seemed so basic to me now that I lost interest quickly. THE LEMONHEADS were the reason I was there. The UK tour has been pretty big in terms of venue sizes, especially as previous tours had failed to sell out. This was the "Ray" tour" so it has pretty much sold out everywhere. Quite amusing really as Evan plays pretty much 90% of the record at every gig he's done the past 30 odd years. Started with a short acoustic set then the band came on and blasted through Ray in about half hour, glorious. After this the set was a little stop start with Evan constantly retuning & bringing up guests (members of the Bevis Frond & the Only Ones) & performing one too many covers. However he did bring out COURTNEY LOVE to do Into Your Arms which was a big surprise. @ the Social with popular forum member Krburg I night of Welsh based acts. The promoter put tickets on sale only through their own ticket agency so I don't think anyone knew about the gig, it felt like the only people attending were the bands & their friends they'd brought down on the coach. Dactyl Terra (smelly 70s rock) & Red Telephone (sounded nothing like Love) opened, neither too memorable. The reason we went is for ALICE LOW, who was incredible. Apparently it was only her 4th ever gig with a band though you wouldn't think so from hearing them. A hell of a show. Low is an absolute star. I really hope she gets to keep the band together and tour extensively because there's potential for this to be a big deal. I forget how much harder it must be when bands aren't based in TCOTU and able to support people each night at the drop of a hat. Last night @ the Rochester Royal Function Rooms Billy Childish & CTMF, Billy doesn't play very often anymore so any chance I get I'm there. I last saw him at the same venue about 3 years ago & it was pretty much the same set with two of the Headcoatees joining them on stage for Wild Man & Davey Crockett. But fucking hell it was good. As Billy has performed less and less over the past decade or so his shows have usually been really sloppy, which is part of the charm, but tonight apart from forgetting the lyrics a couple of times he was on fire. Fucking excellent gig. Though it ended in a massive brawl right at the very end Some younger kids were moshing a little too hard and some older locals didn't like it. Punches were flying about everywhere whilst Billy was trying to grab people from on the stage The Shadracks featuring Billy's son & the bass player from the Horrors opened, solid.

Godspeed You Black Emperor - not the biggest fan but was quite curious about it. Gotta say they're great to watch: 2 drumsets, 2 bass, 3 guitars, 1 violin. The brain just floats and the crescendos are definitely fantastic at points.
