His best solo album by far, it isn't even a contest. The standouts for me are Holy Mountain, She Taught Me How to Fly, The Man Who Built The Moon, and Beautiful World. Those songs will reside in his canon for years to come. I think the talk of experimentation is a little overblown, but it does touch on a lot of disparate influences that never made an Oasis album or his solo work. 8/10 I understand your argument here Rolli but the problem is as follows: There are 11 tracks on the album. Fort Knox is an instrumental Interlude 1 is an instrumental End Credit is an instrumental He's not talented enough to come up with something as good as "The great gig in the Sky" Then you have: Keep on reaching - which is just awful. Be careul what you wish for - just awful The man who built the moon - Tries to be a cross between this is hardcore and primal scream's trainspotting, ends up sounding awful. 6 tracks which are a complete waste of time for me. I can't be bothered to continue, there is more progression and experimentation on his first two albums compared to this shite. This album goes into the same shit pile as HC, DBTT, DOYS.

Instrumentals don't bother me though, I listen to Four Tet and various jazz artists more than anything nowadays. Fort Knox is a banger, it isn't as good as the 4 tracks I highlighted, but it is something I enjoy to run to or blast on my headphones. As for the two interludes could you imagine the outcry if Noel had only 9 tracks on the record. Plus, I quite like ending credit. I stand by this record, and to put it in the same class as something like Heathen Chemistry is histrionic. That might be the worst album I own.

Ian McNabb likes it and that's really all that anyone needs to know.

It pains me as a one-time card-carrying member of Team Noel that Liam has been the clear winner of this round, but "I'm doing my thing and he's out here doing my thing" and "nobody sings Dylan like Dylan" are prime-era level Noel putdowns. Now go write prime-era level tunes, Noel and stop dicking around with "it's far out, maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan".

It's amusing how out of touch this forum has become. There's always been a hint of this though mainly the fetishization of Shit Horse.

Eh? some of my favourite songs are instrumentals. I couldn’t give a flying fuck about jazz music. Noel’s instrumentals are worse than elevator music.

Liam has been doing his twitter thing for years now and Noel has always ignored it...he's now incredibly rattled and it's all do with Liam's success.
Such an insecure little mong.
The 'parka monkeys' jibe was clearly motivated by Liam's crowds having way more energy and fun. Not cos Liam puts on a better show, not Liam's charisma was 50%of oasis, not cos Liam's voice makes Noel's inane lyrics sounds profound....nope it's all cos they're parka monkeys.
Actually can't stand the twerp.
