It's just an admin exercise David to try and save money and finalise league ladders. If their waiting for no players to have it though I don't think they'll even manage that....look at the so called "Gold standard" in Germany. If this is the end of football though least it ended with liverpool on top forever with 3 trophies in the cabinet!

Have heard loads of things over the past year from businessmen in the city saying it was never going to go ahead, for me it's always felt like Hicks & Gillett with Stanley Park.

What a load of fucking shit. Just to be clear I’m currently working full time and in an office WITH PEOPLE. I’m too lazy and too angry to post because of tucker and covid19 - so I’m going to copy and paste a brilliant post that I read today:
I don’t blame some players for being anxious or having concerns about returning. However, the whole narrative that’s is being disseminated in the media around players welfare is becoming a little nauseating and ridiculous for a few reasons:
1). I can’t think of any other profession, or industry or job at the moment where if you aren’t either working from home or still having to go out to work (like a bus driver, supermarket worker, doctor) that you can sit at home on full pay. I am lucky enough to be able to work from home, but I am still working. If I wasn’t able to work from home, and the business I work for weren’t able to operate (eg a pub), then I would either be furloughed or made redundant. So footballers who are concerned have to start thinking about what the rest of society would be expected to do. If they aren’t willing to play, then expect to be furloughed or take a hefty wage cut.
2). Many more people are going to have to start going to work over the next few weeks, on top of the people who have already been going out to work. I have no doubt that many of those people are anxious, either because they have to travel on a packed train, or they work in an environment where social distancing isn’t always possible. However, they will largely still go to work because they need to earn a living. We hope each employer puts the necessary safety protocols in place, however some may adhere to that more than others. What is very clear is that the Premier League are going to extraordinary lengths to ensure football players are safe. They are investing in private testing, so that players can be confident that they won’t be sharing a football pitch with someone who has the virus. They are practicing social distancing, their hygiene protocols will be stringent, players will not need to travel by public transport, they can arrive separately from their colleagues and drive in their comfortably sports cars etc. So they can have no complaints when it comes to working in as safe an environment as possible.
3). People also need to think and remember that not everyone is at equal risk of getting seriously ill or dying. Certain groups are more at risk than others - and that is primarily based on age and whether an individual has an underlying health condition. Footballers are all in a very low risk group. That’s not to say there haven’t been cases of young, healthy people dying. There have been, and that is tragic. However, the risk is extremely low. You only have to look at the stats. So it is a little galling to hear a fit, young and healthy 28 year old professional footballer say they don’t think they should return until it is safe, when a 55 year old bus driver, who could potential have diabetes or some other chronic health condition, still goes out to work, putting himself at risk, because he needs to feed and cloth his family. We can’t eliminate all risk, unless we want to live like hermits for the next few years whilst keeping our fingers crossed that a vaccine may or may not arrive.
4). Like many other industries, football - for all its perceived wealth - will be in dire straits unless they can find a way to finish the season and protect as much of their revenues as possible. We saw a report yesterday that even if the season is completed, Premier League clubs still stand to loose about £350million. Don’t complete the season and the losses could treble. If football players want their profession and their industry to survive, then they need to find a way to get back to playing. Gary Neville and other football journalists can crow about it all they like, but if football becomes unviable they will all also be out of a job.
The bottom line is this - footballers will be protected and pampered like no other profession or industry. They will have the most comprehensive testing regime and the most stringent hygiene protocols and will be playing in empty stadiums, while travelling to work in their own cars. They are all young and healthy so are at low risk. If any one individual players feels unable to play despite all of this then fine, they can’t be forced to. But in that instance they should accept to be put on leave with a wage cut.

someone else ludicroously having to work in an office right now is a reason for boosing the trade union movement, it's not a reason for putting football back on.

Trade unions are a joke and have declined massively, no one gives a fuck about trade unions silly. I have no issues with working in an office. I do have issues though with cunts who are sat at home and getting paid in full to drink beer, host sex parties, and moan about safety.

Good on him. If he doesnt feel safe he shouldn't play. I'm sure he'll be praising the world class safety standards of the league once he gets told that if he doesnt play he doesnt get paid.

The only way we don't get the league is if we play the matches and lose them all - it's not our fault we're that good everyone else hates football now and would rather not play ever again!

You and I both know this season is getting finished one way or another and we will have that Premier League trophy at Anfield.

I don't think the season can or will be finished on the pitch and if that's right then Liverpool will get the trophy if 14 clubs vote to change the rules to give them it. I also know that the tory right wing death cult wants the season played out so they can hold them up as an example to teachers etc to get back to work and that a lot of Liverpool fans seem happy to betray their class for this.

joey barton telling the cry babies to get on with it.
Glenn Murray and Troy Deeney are in a relegation scrap. If they don’t want to play, I understand it. Don’t play then. Stay at home.
There will be a lot of young players at Brighton/Watford, desperate for an opportunity and who will fight to save their respective clubs.

Brugge confirmed as Belgian champions and Celtic to be confirmed Monday. Efl 2 also confirm league positions using ppg as a metric. Swerve playing these epl games now, just get the trophy delivered.

There's still TV and advertising money to be made unfortunately so the Premier League will continue until it becomes pointless.
