The only band that could get me back on here to make a new thread. In a world of Trump, Brexit and a certain Sunderland relegation these lot are the most exciting young British Band to come along for ages.

Going to see them in a tiny pub in their hometown of Ashton next month with a mate who's a massive fan. Should really give them another listen, kinda dismissed them on my first listen.

Listened to the first couple of tracks on the album and didn't feel it all, but wasn't really in the right mood. Will give them another go.

A couple of ok tunes- nowt special though. A long way from being the saviours of British guitar music. The sixth form politics really grates.
A sub-par Fat White Family is about the best that can be said.

I think you've nailed it there Titch.
Could imagine myself being really into this 10 years ago, but tbh this kind of sound doesn't appeal much to me anymore.

There's a lot of angry or angsty British bands lately (Slaves, Fat What Family, Cabbage, I might even include Sleaford Mods) with different styles but with one shared characteristic: an unforgivable lack of tunes. I blame The Fall.
EDIT: (opens umbrella)

i listened to a few tunes last year sometime and thought it was ok but nothing special. really enjoying the album on first listen though, seems to be clicking with me a lot more this time around. can imagine they'd be good fun live too. i'd imagine they'll be hammering all the festivals this summer.

Agree with the overall sentiment in this thread, I don't mind a couple of songs but couldn't really stomach the whole album.
I do like the fact that they exist though, as Karl said, my 20 year old self would probably have got right into them. And yeah, there is of course an element of 'sixth form' politics about it, even though I do find that term odious and a patronising, but so what, they are sixth form aged kids. Anything that may bring to light or inspire political discourse amongst younger people is only a positive thing and if you're doing it while referencing and nodding to great bands like The Fall or Joy Division, then good on you.

How old are they? I have no idea and can't find anything I think they're pretty young, I saw a video of them performing on Soccer AM of all places last year and remember thinking how young they looked. I would guess around late teens early twenties?
