I've finally finished my new album! Took bloody ages, but I purposely took my time with this one. I'm not completely sure what I'm gonna do with it at the moment, I'm still working on Artwork and stuff, might even see if I can find a small label for it or something, if not i'll just put it out myself on Bandcamp and maybe get a few copies printed on vinyl (Vanity project). Anyway, seeing as I've been teasing this for ages, thought I'd let the good people of the Soapbox have an exclusive listen to what I've done. MP3 and Soundcloud (private) links below. Have a listen if you have a spare 48 minutes, would appreciate any feedback (negative or otherwise).. Vargas K - Peering Through Gilded Gates (2017)01: To Grind (7:43) 02: The Charm & the Chaff (4:38) 03: Fashion is the Folly of the Fool (3:26) 04: A Stagger of Kindness (6:34) 05: Vultures (4:02) 06: Rabble the Rousers (2:50) 07: Church of the English Martyrs (5:23) 08: Alter Rex (6:40) 09: Boats Against the Current (6:08) Sendspace Link (MP3 320)Soundcloud

Can't wait to give this a listen later; well done mate.
Is track one a gay anthem based on your experiences with the popular gentlemen's dating app?

Finally got round to listening this and it's a great one Kev, the record definitely shows a lot of care, thought and hours were put into it and you can bet it paid off. The production and instrumentation of it all is amazing, I wish I could do half of that. Rabble the Rousers and Alter Rex are my faves on first listen.

Kev- are the 'gilded gates' a reference to Downing Street?

Kev- any chance you could send us the actual sendspace link- for some reason it's not working for me (the link in the post up there). It just opens a blank webpage with no web address. I need to try a different way (copy and pasting the actual web adddress in works, i've had it with another file too). Cheers mate

Kev- are the 'gilded gates' a reference to Downing Street? Hmm.. sort of, but not quite as specific or literate as that, I suppose it represents any sort of disenfranchised mass peering through the gilded gates of any meddling 'elite'. Bit of boring back story, but I actually have a song called 'Peering Through Gilded Gates' which has a bit more of a personal and relatable slant on that idea, it was one of of about 4/5 songs that I recorded for this record and left off, mainly because, either the tone didn't quite fit, or I failed to capture the essence of a bunch of demos I made before recording this. So i held some stuff back that would work in a more 'lo-fi' project I have on the go. But as I started to finish the lyrics for this album, I realised they were quite informed, directly and indirectly, by some of the events that have happened in recent years and the ideals that helped shape and lead us to those events, and that title seemed very appropriate, so I used it.

Just stolen shit ripped from youtube. Mostly old tv adverts, news, weird shit & my collection of pirated shit action movies
Yeah I’ll gladly have a go at doing you a video, pm me what song and any themes or ideas and I’ll see what I can come up with.
