The new album is good on first listen, but not a patch on Grey Area for me.
She's got the skills for sure and when in full flow there's few can touch her. And it sounds good (Inflo's production is always great).
But, she's released two albums before this, only one of them any good and at times it feels like she's reading her memoirs. And it gets boring.
And 65 minutes? Please.

Shame. I really liked one of those mix tapes she did not too long ago, but whatever single she released from this sounded stale as fuck. Will give the record a go as Grey Area was the bollocks. That run-time isn't inspiring me though.

That run-time isn't inspiring me though. It has it's moments for sure, but just wish the subject matter wasn't SO autobiographical. Although it seems to have got amazing reviews for that very reason. So probably just me. I'll give it another go.

I was probably a little hasty.
It makes much more sense listened to right through in one go.
And the production is so so good.
But, some of the preachy voiceovers on the interludes are definitely not needed (Little Q pt.1, Gems, The Rapper That Came to Tea, The Garden).
I'm not the target audience for them obvs, but still. The music that backs them is great (nods to Janelle Monae's Archandroid).

I liked it on first listen. Unsure if it can fully justify its length, though multiple listens will hopefully decide that for me. Didn't hear anything that hit me as hard as her last record did though.

Another gripe.
The ballad, I See You.
Why the fuck do Hip Hop artists insist on soiling their records with shit ballads?
It's been a curse on Hip Hop since LL Cool J thought that I Need Love was a good idea, back in 87.
And don't get me started on Puff Daddy's vomit inducing ode to Biggie.
