G'night, funnyman.
(I never got a chance to see them live, but then again, they never came over here anyway.)

His death isn't a shock given his recent ill-health, but it feels sad that The Fall have now suddenly ended after 40 years. They were a constant throughout the time I've been into music. Always a new album to explore, another gig to enjoy. Must have seen them a dozen times and they were always enjoyable in their own way. Hard to pay tribute to MES without slipping into the usual cliches - 'one of a kind' etc - but hopefully his work is reexamined and wins the kind of respect it deserves. He was every bit as good as Nick Cave or Shane MacGowan as a lyricist.
