Karl is such a fucking mingeplant these days, spends the whole of the year listening to thousands of 30 second Guided by Voices tunes just to boost his scrobbles and then it gets to November and he starts crying like a little bitch about not being able to do a list.
Prick.

Guys I only did it so I could give you the hugely successful Daily Pollard thread.
But yeah, it is Pollard's fault not mine.

They've all been paid to include the Arctic Monkey's record haven't they?
Listening back to Janelle Monae's latest, it really isn't anything special. I like it, but it's disposable as fuck. After all the hype & wait for me its a big disappointment. It should have been a huge artistic statement, but instead its a throwaway pop record where the best numbers sound like blatant ripoffs of Prince.

low's album seems to be appearing high in a lot of the lists and everyone in general seems to think it's mindblowing but i'm still to have that moment where it clicks with me. i'm a big fan and quite enjoy the new album but i'm clearing not hearing what everyone else is. fair play it's something a bit different for them but not particularly for the better in my book. mind you i often take a while to click with a new low lp. see you in 2021 where i proclaim it as the best thing ever.

Aren't you waiting to 'the millennial answer to OK Computer', made by 'the closest thing we have to a present-day Lennon and McCartney', which is released on Friday?

I'll keep my thoughts regarding the latest couple of Albarn records to myself then

Aren't you waiting to 'the millennial answer to OK Computer', made by 'the closest thing we have to a present-day Lennon and McCartney', which is released on Friday? Is this the 1975 by any chance? I saw a poster for the new record on the tube that had some ridiculous statement next to it.

Yep, NME review. I will give it a listen or two out of curiosity, but come on... They even have Pitchfork backing them now too.

I was going to start a thread on the 1975 actually, because, I just always half assumed they were rancid faux guitar/synth pop 'pish', but I'd never heard a single song by them. And obviously in recent weeks I keep seeing them crop up everywhere and NME and Pitchfork are salivating all over them, so I thought I'd give a couple of their songs a listen, just out of curiosity, and actually, it turns out that I was completely correct. It's absolute drivel, terribly bland production, and just all round awful shit.
We know the NME is dying and it's obviously a desperate attempt to cling to a massively popular teeny band, and obviously Pitchfork has gone further and further in that direction since being bought by Conde Naste, but the coverage and reviews from both of them has been nothing but embarrassing.
Awful music.

I have also noticed this sudden burst of critical wanking over the 1975. Magazines (those that are left) and websites have to jump on the popular bandwagon now and again to sustain themselves. But there's no hiding how utter wank the band is.

Nah, it is a good weird pop record, nothing more and nothing less. It won't make my top30 but it sits comfortbly on my top50 of the year

Guys, I'm sorry about my comments earlier in the week stating I won't have a list ready. I saw Rod's disappointment, took a long hard look at myself & spent a good few days last week giving my all. I shall have a list with write-up! Maybe not the 15th, but definitely by the 20th.
