i've no idea if this is the case or not but i always imagine mahoney must love fair touching as the guitars are pure lemonheads.... JP, this post has sent me down a youtube rabbit hole. It's weird, I've never really looked that hard for similar artists, I've basically wanted every song ever to sound like Take the Skinheads Bowling, Sparkys Dream & The Great Big No. I've been hitting the RYM charts for power-pop and jangle-pop & sampling lots of bands that I'd heard of in the past but never really listened to like the Pernice Brothers Who the fuck are Ozma? Anyone heard of them? I'm flicking through their album now and they sound exactly like Weezer Like good Weezer! Doc Corbin Dart sounds awesome in a GBV kinda way Anwyay, it's something I've never put a lot of thought into. So if anyone has any artists/albums/songs that fit that mould throw them my way.

I was listening to the Wannadies for the first time in a very long time & wondered what happened to them. I went on wikipedia & this little blurb of information just made me laugh out loud "In 2003, "You and Me Song" was used in the climax to an episode of Coronation Street in which Richard Hillman drove his new wife, Gail Platt and her family into a canal (in which he died), and later in 2007 an episode in which his stepson, David Platt, drove his car into that same canal as a suicide attempt, only to survive, which ruined his sister Sarah's wedding day."

It's fucking Weezer isn't it? There's a little bit more moany emo in there than Weezer but even the lead guitar tone is the same. Gonna download that reet now.

That Wannadies song was gold. I also link it to a song by some band I can't name from the Eternal sunshine of a spotless mind ost.
Not quite jangle, but Pro Procrastinator by Get Inuit/Indoor Animals is one of the best power pop songs of the recent years.

Queen of my School by the Lemon Twigs just nails the Big Star sound.

I'm starting to listen to that Ozma youtube but I'd say they're Greta Van Fleet levels of cringecopying Weezer, isn't it a bit? With some Ash touches. It's not working for me so far

It doesn't really count as either power pop or jangle pop, but I would urge all fans of Alex Chilton to check out his solo material. The '1970 sessions' are great, as is his first solo record proper, Like Flies on Sherbert.
