It was almost 2 years ago. It's ok though, Xander's just a wet blanket ABOUT EVERYTHING Exactly. It's over a year & a half since they released Brothers. They've put out 7 records in 9 years so a year & a half wait is about right. I completely fail to see how they've only made the record because they are popular.. or been forced to chuck one together. Almost everybody said Brothers could of done with having a few less tracks. This record is tighter & clocks in much shorter yet now they get accused of just knocking one out because they are now popular. The same people moaning were not moaning when they released Rubber Factory soon after Thickfreakness.. because they weren't even listening to the Black Keys then. ;D Weaver this record is better than Brothers is another matter but Xanders and other peoples comments on the net I've seen have been ridiculous. It's as if they've reached a level of fame now & everybody is actually wanting them to fail.

Why would I be mad? I'm just owning dimlo's who are trying to act all precious about a band they've only actually give a shit about for a couple of years anyway.

There's an interview with them about 'selling out'. Not entirely related to this subject but I thought it was pretty interesting, Patrick Carney said that if there's going to be music on adverts, might as well be theirs and not Nickelback's. I kind of agree.

As somebody who steals 100% of music I can have no arguments with an artist who wants to make money through other means as long as they've no problem with the product they are being used for.

I agree Karlos. Especially in this day and age when artists make precisely fuck all from record sales.
My bird once moaned about Camera Obscura being used in the ads before and after Come Dine With Me. After she'd finished clearing away our dinner and started on the hoovering, I pointed out that the money they made from those ads could be the difference between them making another album or not.

Plus the new Black Keys is fantastic, innit
The opening trio of tracks are brilliant
(Yep, I'm still listening to new records)

I just think the album could be better and it's their most commercial to date, but one thing has nothing to do with the other for me. People give their interpretation of it and you give yours...

I think they clearly have the best combo of single + video of the year, though

The Nova Saints - Newfoundland (2011) , does anybody know this band? At first I thought it might have been a local band with obvious album title of 'Newfoundland' and the artwork depicting a kind of Newfoundland scene.. but it seems they are from Bristol England of all places.
Anyways, I read a review.... and some nark said it sounds like The Verve mixed with early Oasis etc.. (something tells me it will be shit). I think I'll give it a go.
Let me know if anybody knows about them, I would love to know about the album title and artwork.

Pretty sure some of their earlier stuff was produced by Nick McCabe, actually.
