2020 albums

Workaround by Beatrice Dillon is a peach of a record. Interesting, evolving, unpredictable, knits in so many styles whilst still feeling cohesive. I think it's verging on a rather spectacular work.

Another couple of albums from 2020 that I enjoyed in the past week.

The Cult of Dom Keller - Ascend!
Mostly instrumental psych/drone rock.  Sounds a bit like the heavier side of Spiritualized in places.  There's a lot of fuzzed-out grooves and a bit of a sprinkling of desert rock.

Ritual King - Ritual King
Heavy blues-influenced stoner rock.  Not sure if it will appeal to many of you chaps but I've been having a good time with it.

I really like the new Spinning Coin album. Good followup to the debut which I loved.

Also listened to an album this morning I really liked by a Polish band called Lonker See. Psych rock with some jazz that reminded me of the last Mythic Sunship album I really loved. Felt a bit like Goat in places too.

2020 finally picking up.

Weller announced a new album today with a picture where he basically looks like the bad guy in the painting from Ghostbusters II. Christ almighty, sort your hair out before doing the promo photos, Paul.

I quite like this latest Lame Impala record. It completely lacks any real edge, and his voice is weedier than Chuzeville, but once you accept it as just a decent pop record it’s perfectly enjoyable.

Yeah, I've been enjoying it a fair bit tbh.

Lovely production but a bit deceiving. Melodies are lacking or too obvious. Definitely his worse but still plenty to enjoy.

I must admit I heard a song on the radio the other day that caught my attention and sounded good. Got on Shazam only to find it was a new tune from Tame Impala. Gutted.

this is definitely the best way to enjoy tame impala. when they come on in the background, shorn of expectations, and you think "ooh this is pleasant".

can't be arsed listening to the albums tho

hahaha, had the exact same thing when watching the film 'Waves' the other week. The soundtrack is pretty decent all round but i was looking for one specific song on IMDB afterwards and it turned out to be them, felt like a complete cunt.

You shouldn't be gutted or feel like a cunt for liking a song. So what if it's Tame Impala and you don't normally like them? If something catches your ear and you like it then just fucking enjoy it.

I'd never admit to anybody, especially you guys, and definitely not myself if I found myself in this awful position.
