Of the 10 songs nominated, i've not (knowingly) heard a single one.
I think this qualifies as reaching total Eddie Argos/Art Brut with popular culture no longer applying to me.
This is what I tell myself anyway. In truth, it probably just means that i'm a miserable old sod.
Anyone else?

I couldn't even tell you anyone who's been even been nominated for any category since about 2001, the Brit Awards as a concept is just not in my sphere

it's just product ennit. i've only heard the stormzy and dave/burna boy ones (had to google the list because like kev said, there's no reason for it to be in my sphere, and that's ok). both are great but they stand on their own anyway.
also eddie, fuck your no-doubt shitty video. no one is saying anything about pop music here, and the junk food connection is played out fucking mundanity.

Bruvs pretending they’re haven’t heard the Lewis Capaldi sing is silly. I’ve heard it a 1000 times.

It’s like the plague. Pubs, shops, taxis, the radio etc. It’s everywhere. C’mon bruv. You’ve heard it.
I haven’t heard Vossi Bop so it’s not impossible to miss a popular tune but Capaldi, Cyrus, Smithy and Bleiber are hard to escape. Assume most people gave the Dave album a go as well.

I only realised today that all Brit award entries have to have reached the top 40 in today’s bullshit, stream-driven, official charts.
The 2020 Brits has predictably being getting flack because in the mixed gender categories - best album etc - there are so few women nominations. One of the reasons for that is someone like Little Simz - who can hardly be considered much of an underground artist given the acres of press coverage she gets - is ineligible as her album never cracked the top 40.
This might have made sense back in the day of physical sales, but the charts now are a laughing stock. Seriously, have a quick Google and read up on how often they have to change the rules.

Not trying to be difficult but I genuinely haven't heard one Lewis Capaldi song and a lot of my mates haven't either. Taxis i'll give ya (although living in a small city centre means I don't use them that much). Who the fuck listens to the radio now except suburban mums? The kind of pubs and shops I go into don't exactly blast out mainstream pop either. I might be a bit of a cunt but it's not like i'm spending all my time drinking in underground techno caverns. I honestly think it's easier than ever to exist in a bubble whereby mainstream culture passes you by (which I actually miss because I feel totally out of touch).

^^ Exactly. The chances are that even if I've heard some of these tunes, I couldn't tell you what they are. Anywhere I go which has the radio on - or where I take my headphones out - is probably playing Absolute 90s or Magic FM. Whether it's at the barber's or in the back of a taxi, most folk will be our age or older and are probably in the same boat.

Unfortunately where I work has Radio 2 on so I have heard Capaldi at least 6 million times.

Yeah, I can genuinely say, I've never knowingly heard a Lewis Capaldi song, there's a chance it may have been on in the background somewhere, but I wouldn't have known or even probably have noticed it.
As others have said, I just generally don't engage with this stuff. Not trying to sound 'cool' or whatever, but I just don't. I don't listen to the radio and i rarely watch the TV that isn't a streaming platform or a downloaded film, i've explicitly put on. We don't listen to music at work either and when i'm out and about, i've always got headphones on and I don't engage with any of this stuff on social media.
I've seen clips of Lewis Capaldi ripping the shit out of Noel on social media, and some compilation clips of him 'being funny' in interviews. But couldn't tell you what he sounds like.
