Funny he's popped back up now. He's never done a proper interview since he quit the band, has he? I remember years ago one article saying he was involved in property development. Let's face it, every drummer Liam and Noel have worked with since has paled in comparison. I really rate Chris Sharrock but would take White over him any day.

The odd bit ive seen his brother seemed better..tbh i dont know much about drumming...is there room for much variation in a song from drummer to drummer (i.e guitar and bass are pretty set in stone especially in oasis)...can anyone who knows roughly rank them for me (or is it personal preference?)

Take the Drum intro to supersonic, sounds really cool and big right? If you were three years old and wanted to learn the drums, a beat identical or similar to supersonic would be the first thing you’d learn to play, and you’d learn it in 5 minutes unless you were a total fucking invalid.
Id class the latter day drummers as session musicians. They were just there to do a job, they weren’t there to express themselves and they certainly weren’t there to add anything to the music in the studio, didn’t noel record most of the drum parts after white left?
Alan whites drumming played a major role in how oasis sounded after definitely maybe, both in the studio and live. He had flair and power. He is a good and competent drummer but is far from being an all time great.
John Bonham reinvented drumming from a rock sound perspective. Then you’ve got mad bastards like Keith moon and ginger baker, freaks of nature who would and could play drums for 10 days straight till they pass out, playing drums is massively hypnotic, it’s like meditation, even more so than playing the guitar. playing the drums is easy, mastering the drums is difficult, Live is where it gets really difficult if you’re off by a second the entire band can collapse, a safe professional drummer is key here, and that’s what makes the likes of Keith moon a great fucking drummer, he wasn’t safe, he played with reckless abandon but still managed to keep everyone in check, how does this happen? Magic, greatness and god given talent.
Oasis never had great musicians, they were all about the vocals and the melodies and nothing else, various techniques were applied in the studio to mask their lack of ability when it comes to playing, although to their credit they did eventually became a well oiled live machine.

Nicely put.

Surprised at the lack of love for zak starkey. Thought he was the best one they had by leaps and bounds. I vaguely recall Noel even saying at one point on he press tour for the last album, that he had to tell the others to hurry up and finish their tunes so zak could put drums on them before he went back to the who.

I don't think it was his fault entirely, Noel was the man calling the shots after all, but the live sound was so plodding and devoid of any dynamic. I think back to that 2005 tour and shudder.
