Right.
One of those bands that I never paid any mind back in the day. Too young when their early stuff came out, and was listening to hip hop and Manchester stuff at the end of the 80s/early 90s.
So, 30+ years later- Iceblink Luck from Heaven or Las Vegas being played on 6music this arvo- a conversation on Facebook this evening - full listens through of Head Over Heels, Treasure and Heaven or Las Vegas and i'm ready to declare that they might be one of the best bands ever. Definitely the best Scottish Band ever and Liz Fraser definitely has the best voice ever.

They are absolutely incredible. I think there's maybe a perception among folk under 40 to write them off as just another generic 80s indie band. But then you put an album on and it sounds like nothing else.
I remember hearing Lorelei, on the Treasure LP, for the first time years ago and it blew my fucking mind. I just put it on again as I typed this and it still does.
Liz Fraser gets all the praise but they are as much Robin Guthrie's band, his guitar and production are just incredible.
I doubt they'll reform, she seems to despise him now.

I had a 'discovery' moment some years ago too, I heard them and was mindblown... for a little while. It was scarily pre-MBV and 2000s dream-pop a la Beach House, but much more than that (more mainstream in a good way). The production is great and vocally and instrumentally they're quite unique but couldn't say I loved lots of songs from the record I decided to focus on. So I stopped delving deeper, although I guess some day I will.
