I have the same problem I’ve had with their other records, the beats are too on the nose and obvious. El-p is a tasteless fraud. Killer Mike should ditch him and work with someone with real talent.

I think Mr Mahoney might have his tongue in his cheek here, the cheeky scamp.
Otherwise I don't get the thing about the beats at all.
First listen through accompanied by a lyric sheet (i'd read that it hits very hard and very topical) and it's a sledgehammer. Totally uncompromising. A call to arms. In those terms it could sit alongside the first couple of Public Enemy albums (yeah, huge claim).
The 3 track run in the middle ('goonies vs ET' through 'JU$T') is outstanding. I think it drops off slightly for the next two ('Never Look Back' and 'The Ground Below') and then goes out with a big bang on 'Pulling the Pin' and the outro.
Looking forward to properly getting to grips with this.
