The second worst oasis album after dig out your shit.
Fantastic memories though, Finsbury Park was a monumental moment for me, I was 15 or 16 and the only thing that mattered in my life at that point was Finsbury Park.

Man what I'd give to be coming back from a meeting a community centre being told I'd have to paint Church fences with a load of naughty kids to get my dole money only to have Rollinice send the album over to me on MIRC over a space of 5 hours! Great memories of the albums leak, the release, their appearance on CDUK/TOTP then the 3 gigs at Finsbury Park, Brighton at the end of the year then staying up Stockport Lad's gaff for the Manchester gig the following summer. Album is completely shit though. I mean at best there was an EP's worth of songs worth keeping from that era ................... The Hindu Times (Demo) Hung in a Bad Place (It's not good, but I never thought it was as bad as everybody said) Stop Crying Songbird Born on a Different Cloud Thank You for the Good times .................... & that's me being incredibly generous. Was CDUK the interview with Liam in the vest? I love him with my entire being but he looked terrible in that.

Bill, can you discose some of the story behind this monumental leak? Thread wouldn't be completed without it. sorry Rod I know you love LxL, perhaps yeah 2/5 is a bit unfair Sure, if my memory serves me correct, it was a Friday night, I just came back from vandalizing things and logged into IRC to see how my chat was doing #madferit. At this point we were at war with mp3oasis and live4ever. But me being the savvy son of a bitch that I was realized it was about getting the latest bootlegs as quick as possible and having people ready to share them with broadband connections. Anyway, we built up quite the reputation after partnering with the-masterplan.com through my friendship with Oscar. All of a sudden, I am in the chat, this guy appears and he is like I have something for you sends me a link to an FTP and there is the album. No one had anything at this point, so we immediately started sharing with the help of bigred3 aka Steve. That's how I recall it, I remember crying to Stop Crying Your Heart Out and being amazed by Songbird. I can confirm this is how it went down! What a time to be alive on the internet. Heathen Chemistry I wrote about in a another thread (can't remember which one now) I woke up really early to go buy a copy of it from the shop that PHIL aka RECCHI worked at. I remember I was parked next to a girl who also had bought it and I vividly remember us both pulling the plastic off of the CD at the same time and blasting THE HINDU TIMES as we drove away (in separate directions). 2002 was probably my most madferit period. I was on the forums all day and on MIRC downloading fucking bootlegs all day/night. At one point, I decided once I downloaded a show I'd rip to a CD (or in most cases it would take two CD's) and i'd also find fan artwork and print that off for the CD case. I got through about 10 bootlegs and the printer ran out of ink and my parents lost it lol. I stopped printing after that as the price of ink was too much for my love of Oasis. I also remember when The Hindu Times premiered it was on like a Norwegian radio show and I skipped university to try and stay home and record it. Everybody on MIRC did the same thing and we'd pass them around trying to hear who had the past CD rip. Also, in 2002 me and Rollinice would text/call/email Y100 in Philadelphia to try and get them to play The Hindu times on there late night top 10 at 10 show (or something along those lines). I think we got it on a few times before the cunts blocked us Still hard to believe that we are coming up on the 20 year anniversary of this. It's mind blowing.

This thread has inspired me to turn it on and see if I can feel the nostalgia and see if I can make it through the full album.

I forgot all about The Hindu Times (Demo) !! Thank You For The Good Times always bothered me because it sounds so fucking hollow. I remember hearing it online and it sounded like shit so I went out and bought the CD single (which cost me an arm and a league) and it still sounded shite. THIS STILL BOTHERS ME

Thank you for the good times is just Andy trying to ingratiate himself with Noel and Liam by writing an oasis-by-numbers song and ending up with some might say with shittier lyrics.
I think I'm probably one of the few people left on earth (aside from Noel, judging by his recent setlists) that still likes little by little, but yeah..everything about this album is more about the time in my life when I was listening to it than the album itself (which is mostly poo).
The first two times I saw them was on that tour, the first in Montreal is marred by the memory of the girl I was with at the time (who wanted to go shopping before the show, so we missed the soundtrack of our lives), but still is a happy memory. Dublin the next year was an absolute delight.

I forgot all about The Hindu Times (Demo) Surely about Meg. Was it Hindu Times that was first played on some slavic radio station? The first rip of it included the back announcement over the start - "Walla walla - Oasis".

I'll allow for the nostalgic memories associated with it, but it's objectively a honking piece of absolute steaming shite, every single song is shit and collectively it's shit, the songs are shit, the production is shit. Shit. Force of Nature is shit. No, Songbird is not good, it's shit. Stop Crying Your Heart Out is a cynical and mawkish pile of shite. Truly one of the worst things, in the broadest possible sense, ever. Completely forgot how fucking shit the artwork is aswell.

I'm transported back to June 21st, 2002. June 21th 2002 was my first 'full' Oasis gig. I had already seen them in Rome, May 1st 2002, but they only played 4 songs. This time the gig would be in a town 400 Km away from Rome, in a small club that could hold no more than 1500 people. I don't know how and why, but me and all my mates managed to get tickets. I woke up early to watch Brazil vs England and to pack my bag - the gig was on a Friday and we were going to stay away until Sunday. I had my high school finals the next Monday (June 24th) and brought with me a couple of school texts to read in the car, but I didn't read one single line. Instead we spent the whole time talking about this new band from San Francisco (BRMC), Italy being kicked out of the world cup by South Korea, and our favourite Rolling Stones single. The gig was incredible and it's still considered a defining moment for mad4it's in Italy. Basically, if you weren't at this gig, you weren't a mad4it. It was a pre-tour warm up gig, and they played a number of unexpected songs (D'You Know What I Mean, Gas Panic) that they would ditch for the tour proper. The following day we decided to go to this mini-airport close to the city hoping we would get lucky and see the band. Lo and behold, the entire band was there at the airport. We took pictures and had stuff autographed. Spent a considerable amount of time sat against the wall with Noel talking about guitars.

Talent wise the 02 team was better than 06, a real shame that the corrupt ref robbed Maldini of a World Cup.

Y100 and a particular employee was very good to us, he helped facilitate the Don't Believe the Truth leak, provided a lot of information such as the track listing prior to the album being released, specifically, the inclusion of Let There Be Love, which was met with horror at the time, and the soundboard recording of Philly 99. Nice dude, hooks me up with Pitchfork tickets whenever I ask.

Even better that the fabled 1982 team. Basically, the cream of the crop of Serie-A at a time when it was arguably the best league in Europe. I've never been too fond of the '06 team. You just don't win a World Cup with Iaquinta as a forward. Let's say in 06 we won the World Cup we got robbed of in 02

I mean, what about the b-sides? This was probably the last album that has b-sides worth listening to!
JUST GETTING OLDER: great little introspective ballad worth rediscovering.
IDLER'S DREAM: the first Oasis track not to feature guitar...this song IS a dream.
THANK YOU FOR THE GOOD TIMES: if this song were released by No Way Sis in the 90s, it would have sold 10K copies and people would have said it could have been a great Oasis b-side.
SHOUT IT OUT LOUD: if Where Did It All Go Wrong got Talk Tonight pregnant and she had a miscarriage in the woods and died of hemorrhage soon after, this would be the song they played at her funeral!
YOU'VE GOT THE HEART OF A STAR: I dunno, sometimes I think it's a great major key-ish Noel ballad, other times I think it's pure kak
