The first 4 tracks still hit hard, especially, The Turning.

Hmmm, not really interested in this album....there's a decent argument to be made that each album got worse.

When this board rated every single Oasis track, there was a slight comeback following the nadir of HC. And HC was the only album where the b-sides elevated the overall "era".

I really like DOYS. First 4 tracks are absolute bangers. Nature of Reality is a stinker. To Be Where There's Life could've been huge. High Horse is a song that I can take or leave, don't love it or hate it. Quite like Ain't Got Nothing but I'm a sucker for Liam rockers. Soldier on is cool.

Doys is a good album

Could have been very good with come on outside (which isn't a classic but it fits the album), and record Machine (without the kids intro nonsense and choir that seems to be everywhere).

Both with Liam on vocals, of course

Absolutely this. It’s a genuinely great start. All goes down hill fairly quickly after, mind.

Also a sharp reminder that Don’t Believe the Truth is - by some distance - the absolute worst album Oasis ever released.

High Horse is IMO the absolute worst Oasis song.

Yeah DOYS's first four tracks are great and it plods a long after that!

Solider On is pooh.

Forgot to mention Falling Down, which I quite like. For DOYS, I'd say:

4 great songs; Bag It Up, The Turning, Waiting For The Rapture, Shock of The Lightning
4 good songs: I'm Outta Time, Falling Down, Ain't Got Nothing, Soldier On
2 okay songs: To Be Where There's Life, (Get Off Your) High Horse Lady
1 POO song: The Nature of Reality

The pacing is certainly weird for sure. First from tracks are BANGERS then it slows things down with I'm Outta Time, which I like and I think it's good to take it down a notch. But then to follow that with High Horse, which does plod. It just completely kills all the momentum. Things get back on track with Falling Down I think, but then the disappointing production on To Be Where There's Life is another lull. Ain't Got Nothing then storms in and kicks you in the balls. Another big song is needed after that but Nature of Reality falls flat. I think Solider On is a really cool closer and I love the vibe of it.

I'm not one for fannying about with tracklists and throwing B Sides in and all of that jazz BUT I think Nature of Reality would really nice as track 5 after the power 4. You'd still have a middling second half of the album but I think it would work better without I'm Outta Time feeling like a full stop after the POWER 4.

My favourite memory of DOYS is Benoît Assou-Ekotto being asked to go home by a bouncer outside Kings College after a Cribs gig for shaking the railings like the Ultimate Warrior whilst spitting out lyrics to the Shock of the Lightning.

I think it was the best we could expect from Oasis at that time. Especially after DBTT, which was pants.
I thought Oasis were on their knees, so this album literally fell from the sky. Possibly their best since Be Here Now.

It received a lot of airplay here in Italy, and it was good to have the boys back on the radio with good songs

Listening to the vinyl now...it's been a while since I played this. Two thoughts:
1 - Liam's voice when he gets to the "someone tell me I'm dreaming" bit in bag it up? :-*
2 - putting the vinyl as two 45s instead of one 33? Fuck you, Noel.
