For one reason or another I've never been a huge Beatles fan. Our house growing up never really had much in the way of Beatles (or the Stones for that matter). My old man was more of a Simon & Garfunkel and Byrds fan. And as a teenager I listened to mainly Hip Hop, Soul, Funk, Fusion and Reggae.
So, coming to the Beatles late I have a relatively uninformed taste in their records (Abbey Road is my favourite).
The George Harrison penned songs that I know have tended to resonate with me more than the others and i've been spending a lot of time with All Things Must Pass recently (just shelled out for the new remaster).
To my ears, it's as good as any of the Beatles albums. Well at least most of it. The back end seems to get a bit bogged down but isn't unlistenable (just doesn't seem to fit with the rest of the songwriting).
I'm assuming most at least like the album?
Is anyone of his other solo stuff nearly as good?

I'm not massive on his solo stuff. I do like various tracks up until the late 70s. All Things Must Pass has some crackers but I've never been massive on it as a full record. For me Living in the Material World is the only other of his records I'd personally recommend. So I'd say go with that & if you really like it continue on.

Some of my favorite songs of all time are on this record.
All Things Must Pass, Run of the Mill, and Awaiting on You All.
Those 3 would sit comfortably within my top 100 songs of all time.

I think Let It Down might be my pick. But I actually think more or less every track up to and including Out of the Blue is pretty great (if Apple Scruffs and I Dig Love were removed I wouldn't lose sleep though).

What Is Life has to be my favourite off this record. It's a great album - probably better than the sum of its parts (the individual songs). I think George's personality really shines through, and that's what makes it really special.

Love Apple Scruffs, what I don't like is the 50th anniversary mix.

I dearly love this album, naturally, but listening to the demos...I can sort of see why John and Paul might have shrugged a bit at some of them. The production does a lot of work. (Still an absolute masterpiece across the board.)
