Anyone see this 8 part Apple TV series last year?
I watched the first 4 last night and it was pretty excellent.
Each episode is set against something key from the year. The first four covered Vietnam, Drugs, change in the music and youth landscape, Equal Rights.
The footage alone (of the musicians involved, the live shows, the political arena, the protests etc.) is pure gold and the list of who features is pretty extensive (there will always be gaps in these things of course)
John, Yoko & George. Marvin Gaye. Sly Stone. Gil Scott Heron. The Stones. Neil Young. Aretha Franklin, The Who. Joni Mitchell. Lou Reed. Bob Marley. Phil Spector. Elton John. Berry Gordy. Martha Reeves. Andy Warhol. The Doors. Hunter S Thompson. Carole King. Marc Bolan. Alice Cooper. The Last Poets. James Brown. Ike & Tina Turner. David Bowie and Iggy Pop and more.
Can't wait to get into the last 4 tonight and my listening for the next couple of weeks will be exclusively from 71. There were a ridiculous amount of great albums released.

I've not seen it, but the 70s are CLEARLY the greatest ever decade. I could do an awesome top 50 records from 71 alone.
