Leonard Cohen - Songs of Leonard Cohen (1967) vs The Band - Music from Big Pink (1968)We have an all-Canadian poll today! What to say about Leonard Cohen that hasn't been said before? This poet-turned-songwriter came relatively late to the recording industry, but left a streak of records that were as passionate and dark as heroic. Meanwhile The Band, who started out as a backing band for other great touring artists, created a sound often considered "more American than many American bands". No doubt Dylan's songs helped them out in the beginning, but their secret was the chemistry between five members of equally great talent and personality.

Not sure I've ever heard that The Band album. It won't be better than Leonard anyway so I'm voting Leonard Cohen.

I voted Leonard Cohen.
Not only I like him a lot, but except for Tears of Rage and a couple other obvious tracks, I've never really liked The Band.

Never cared for The Band. Tried a few times, find them kinda bland tbh. Leonard Cohen's debut is one of the greatest records of all-time, I go between that and songs of love and hate depending on mood.
