The love for this Mick Jagger solo album is very funny.
There's a few enjoyable tracks on there, but it sounds fuck all like a Stones album. The production is painful on the ears at times.
Charlie would have hated it.

And I said "Yes dear mother, I want a copy the 12" version of the Too Much Blood single by The Rolling Stones 1984". She said "Okay my son, it's okay". I've become obsessed with Too Much Blood. From first seeing the video & being in tears laughing at Mick's lyrics & the video to realising it's an absolute banger. Honestly an all-time favourite Stones tune. It could easily fit on Talking Heads Fear of Music.
Respect to Mother Simone.

She came to visit but the weather was shite so one day we were at home and bored and I decided to play a little music quiz with her with the LPs I have here. We listened to the Undercover of the Night Dub Mix together and we both got a kick out of it, which reminded me I needed to get the next 12 inch in that series, Too Much Blood! Much to my surprise she recognised most anything, Lou Reed, the Stones, Paul Simon. I played an obscure Nico record from the 80s (Camera Obscura) and she was puzzled by the music but as soon as the singing started she said "That's Nico!" She's the only person in the world who likes Lou Reed, Nico and John Cale as solo artists but DOES NOT like the Velvet Underground, go figure!! |
