I'm trying to compile a very long list of the best psychedelic albums ever and while I'm spoilt for choice from the 60s and 70s and can find my way through the 80s and 90s, I'm totally clueless as to what was released in the past 25 years.
Anybody knows of any great album that could compete with some of the greats from the golden age of psychedelia? Not just psychedelic rock but any form, folk, jazz, ambient...

Acid Mothers Temple, anything they put out is usually worthwhile.
Goat - World Music Matthew E. White & Lonnie Holley - Broken Mirror: A Selfie Reflection psych/soul/krautrock, kinda all over the place Ty Segall self titled psych/garage moon duo - shadow of the sun Sonny Simmons & Moksha Samnyasin - Nomadic psych jazz Earth - Primitive and Deadly lengthy psych meets stoner rock Salems Pot - ...Lurar ut dig på prärien. Excuse the terrible band name, Swedish doom metal/heavy psych. Not usually my thing but that one really landed. Psicomagia - Psicomagia killer prog/space-rock/jazz rock Lumerians - The High Frontier psych, little bit krautrock in spots Neil Young with Crazy Horse - Psychedelic Pill - Neil's last great record? Sundays & Cybele - Gypsy House Japanese psych, not heard this one for ages The Flaming Lips - Embryonic one of their best records. Everything since has been a waste of time The Black Angels - Passover The Brian Jonestown Massacre - Bravery, Repetition and Noise BRMC debut

Alright David! I listened to Totem (2009) as it was the only one of theirs available on Tidal. Of course I made sure to get completely cabbaged beforehand. I really enjoyed it. It did remind me of early 70s European psych, west-plays-east, but with the in-your-face modern American sound. I've heard a number of bands trying to do the ritualistic psych thingy but they all get too meandering - this does not. I really liked it. I'll download the other albums and will pick out one of the many I have not heard anything else you mentioned except Goat's first album. I'll get to all of them eventually, thanks! What's in your Pharoah Sanders playlist? Any album in particular? I don't think I ever went beyond the Impulse LPs.

Acid Mothers Temple, anything they put out is usually worthwhile. Before I started the thread I went to your RYM and searched Psychedelic+Rock and I got the Psicomagia record out of it and really liked it!! Then I got the Bardo Pond EP and I couldn't suffer it so I thought... I'd better ask Acid Mothers Temple for sure, especially Pataphisical Freak Out MU!! and Electric Heavyland. Also one of the best live gigs I've ever seen - my ears are still ringing. One albums that comes up in nearly every list/books is Tame Impala's first LP, which I've never heard, but nobody here likes it apparently.

It is very retro sounding and fine, especially considering it's just one man doing it all. If he didnt got this big it would probably be considered in a different way. In fact I believe the sophomore is actually a modern psych classic but I guess it's not what you're looking for...

I've not ventured beyond the impulse stuff either. afaik he went back to trad jazz when he changed label. Jewels of thought is my go to from all that. I could listen to it every day. one more suggestion lesdisquesbongojoe.bandcamp.com/album/rocks-waves-song-circle
