One of Curtis' finest imo (which says a lot, seeing how many gems he has written).

Alright, time is right for some fresh grooves.
First one is by Terry Reid, not a great groover of a song perhaps, more of a rocker, but his voice is pure, deep soul.
Which brings me to the following song by a band called Humble Pie. Not an ideal choice since its an understated groover, especially when you consider they had some excellent true groovers in their later days (thunderbox album and shit like ''get down to it'' and ''hot n nasty'') But yeah... Since Marriott and Reid make for a good mix ive decided to post it. Its after all pretty much their best song imo. Its free and deep and shit. But not prog. Just an amazing song, and tbf there is still a good bit of groove. Great hammond sound throughout as well, and excellent guitar playing. Key feature is the insane vocal by Marriott tho.. Fantastic album as well, their first for A&M. Great artwork and albumwise its easily their strongest imo.
Since the last 2 songs were a bit of a stretch i feel ive got to provide an extra thick groove now. This one is another classic example of the Willie Mitchell sound by the fantastic Ann Peebles.
this one speaks for itself tbh:

'let's do it again' by the staple singers with curtis mayfield. Great pick. Then again, just about anything Curtis touched turned into gold. He really knew how to get women pregnant too, but let's not get into that... Insane groove by the master. This one's also quite noice. Off his best album if you ask me. Nile Rodgers, a guarantee for grooves. What a mega tune.

Fair enough. Would be great if you could make this thread sticky though, I feel like there's been a serious lack of grooves on the Soapbox lately...

For those of you who can still be considered groovers:

Stop taking the piss with my grooves or at least post some yourself, ones that will make our bodies sweat.
