I'd love to play golf but I don't have the dedication (or the money tbf) It's an incredibly difficult sport to just take up, I think you'd need to have been brought up with it from an early age really. Either that or I am just shit and shouldn't be talking on behalf of anyone else.

Nah we're not gonna be taking it up on any full time level, won't be joining any clubs (fuck £500 green fees), we'll probably be going once a month or something, it's only around £10-15 each, in fact on the municipal course in Aintree it's £16 and that includes a 2 course meal.

We won't be buying £1000 sets of clubs either, we'll probably be getting starter sets from Taskers or even second hand sets from Cash Converters etc. just for now.

I reckon a full set with a bag and trolley would be around £60 in Cash Converters, the only other expense is the likes of balls and tees and bits.

I "play" golf about 3 times a year and I'm fucking rubbish. That said, I've always been to sport what Rollinice is to punctuation so it's nice that there's one which I enjoy. I don't take it too seriously but it's still an incredibly frustrating game, the easiest way to fuck it up is by trying too hard, which seemingly something that is impossible to avoid.

aintree is a private course on the racecourse, its kirkby thats a municipal (i think its called north liverpool now)

my uncle who was a mad golfer till who moved down to cornwall reckoned the course at bootle is excellent and thats a municipal, I believe if you get a bit better then theres municipal courses in north sefton that are outstanding in between the world class ones at formby and birkdale (you need a letter from jesus to play at birkdale)

Yeh i know it's officially in Kirkby but it's literally about 500 yards from the racecourse. There are a few municipal courses in the area that look good, the bootle and kirkby ones are the easiest for me to get to.

In the meantime we'll be going to the racecourse driving range, it's only £4 for 100 balls and £1.50 for the hire of a driver.

its mostly in fazakerly its just the clubhouse thats in kirkby. I've played there as a kid with my cousins but I'm fucking shocking at golf. anyway. bootle is apparently cheaper and better than kirkby though overran with scallies if you go at the wrong time

I know a few lads who are really into their golf but i've never really spoken to them about it, they're from Bootle actually, i'll ask them about the municipal course there.

aintree stops at sherwoods lane by the railway bridge opposite fazakerly high school, I'm not sure exactly where kirkby starts but no one actually lives on the liverpool side of the motorway so its not that important I dont suppose
